Doujinshi Hoops The Playing G (Gundam) Kanda Yumeko figure

A rare piece of figurine from mid 2000s of a heroine from a doujinshi designed after Gundam. I was lucky enough to get it on Carousell. Seller is very kind to absorb postage fee and even courier the item within a few hours after payment made. The Playing G is a self-published manga with an appendix of the protagonist taking reference to Mobile Suit Gundam RX-78-2.

I don't under Japanese but I certainly like how Kanda Yumeko figure is presented. Her hairband is tied up like Gundam's V-fin. Her school uniform takes the colour scheme of the first Gundam. she holds the ladle like the beam saber and the milk crate like a shield.

SD Gundam Baby Milo - A Bathing APE (Built & Painted)

An incredibly unique collaboration between two great franchises like Gundam and "A Bathing APE". The result is the birth of SD Gundam Baby Milo. Anyway, This kit has basically all the parts of a standard SD Gundam as well as Baby Milo. The parts can then be swapped to form SD Gundam Baby Milo. It's kawaii to see Baby Milo donning the helmet of the classic Gundam RX-78-2.

It's also comical to see SD Gundam Baby Milo holding those banana rifle and banana saber. Since SD Gundam Baby Milo head is too big, both beam sabers on the backpack can't be attached. This kit also comes with unique stickers such as Baby Milo special insignia and quote that goes "Go APE! World Gone Mad". Apologies for the flaws due to quick build and paint works do within a day.

Gundam Universal Wave RX-78-2 Action Figure

Bandai is hopping onto the wagon of 6" action figures, similarly to their Dragonball Star Series, following Hasbro highly successful Star Wars and Marvel Legend series.  The first wave hitting stores is none other then the original Gundam RX-78-2, certainly my favourite and most iconic Gundam.

In comparison to the past MSIA (Mobile Suit In Action) figurine line, this upsized Gundam action figure appears a lot easier to handle even with my adult hands. Lolz... Though lacking in articulation when compared to the Robot Spirit toyline, Gundam Universal figures are definitely more robust and durable. In fact, I like the extendable thigh feature that allows a wider range of leg motion.

This action figure is not fanciful and Bandai only provides the basic accessories such as the shield, beam rifle and beam saber. Not forgetting an attachment compatible to Gunpla base stand for more dramatic posing. The hands available include a pair of clutch fist, rifle grabbing hand and saber holding hand.

The joints are tight and figure is very toyetic. Some other plus points includes good colour separations that's sharp and neat. The panel lines are deep and sharp hence provided potential of further enhancing the ecstatic with addition touch up.

Gundam RX-78-2 Head Speaker

I had previously blogged about the Zaku II head speaker and it's Gundam time to go groovy with stereo speaker powered by two AA-sized batteries. More sophisticated mechanics were introduced to Gundam RX-78-2 head as the sides unfold to reveal the the speakers. On the other hand, the cable runs from the back of the head that connects to any earphone inlets, could not be hidden or concealed. IMHO, this item carries more as novelty rather than a gadget.

In actual fact, the speaker can't really amplify much sound and starts cranking when you try too hard. On the other hand, it sets in perfect in my Gundam theme decorated room. Looks even more awesome when I put Amuro Ray's trading figure (not included), the protagonist of Kidou Senshi Gundam. Anyway, I bought this from Japan at the flea market at Akihabara. It was manned to be a prized item for UFO catcher manufactured by Banpresto back then when Bluetooth was still at infant stage.

MG 1/100 Gundam RX-78-2 Ver. One Year War O.Y.W Animation Color

I bought a few sets of MG RX-78-2 Gundam Version OYW for the purpose of modifying them to different GM but managed to keep the classic anime colour version of this Gundam as a tribute to the legendary Amuro Ray. In fact, I bought the EFSF stand and have different version of Amuro's PVC trading figures and have them all displayed in an acrylic box. It's now a mini Amuro's shrine! Like many of the other MG, this Gunpla featured an exoskeleton frame and inner mechanism, which I had sprayed some silver paint on.

The shoulder, elbow and kneel hyper extended joints of this kit were specially designed to maximum articulation. All signature weaponry like the beam rifle, hyper bazooka, the unique chain hammer, beam sabers and shield were included. One of the beam sabers was specially bend as an effect part to emphasize Gundam swinging action of the beam saber. I didn't use the unpainted miniature pilot figure of Amuro Ray since I'm fond using trading figures. A special set of white base stickers and dry transferred decals were also thrown in. If you had gotten the anniversary edition, addition transparent parts were included for those who like seeing through the armour and looking at the mechanic within.
