Gundam RX-78-2 Head Speaker

I had previously blogged about the Zaku II head speaker and it's Gundam time to go groovy with stereo speaker powered by two AA-sized batteries. More sophisticated mechanics were introduced to Gundam RX-78-2 head as the sides unfold to reveal the the speakers. On the other hand, the cable runs from the back of the head that connects to any earphone inlets, could not be hidden or concealed. IMHO, this item carries more as novelty rather than a gadget.

In actual fact, the speaker can't really amplify much sound and starts cranking when you try too hard. On the other hand, it sets in perfect in my Gundam theme decorated room. Looks even more awesome when I put Amuro Ray's trading figure (not included), the protagonist of Kidou Senshi Gundam. Anyway, I bought this from Japan at the flea market at Akihabara. It was manned to be a prized item for UFO catcher manufactured by Banpresto back then when Bluetooth was still at infant stage.

Its function had been decommissioned. I display it on my study room for decoration purpose.

HEHE, Banpresto making the rounds again... as you, i think that this speaker was made more with collectors in mind, than with techno-geeks in mind and in that sense works perfect for display !!!... =)

Haha! Indeed, the gadget would catch the attention of Gundam followers rather than techno-geeks.. Served it's purpose even after been obsolete. Lolz...

one of the biggest head display that will fit your case with / without knowing if this is a speaker,, always want to grab this but its already rare and always end in high bid on local auction.

I don't see why this head caused so much these days. It was a few hundred yen item back then. Just for some fun and novelty..

yeah the original price was really cheap, but its hard to find in my city so many people eager to grab this mostly when someone put it in an auction.

Value of toys can be very strange at times. Sometimes I paid a lot for a toy but their value depreciated a lot. Sometimes, it takes another person who like the item more than we do to pay something that's so overpriced.
