Toynami Masterpiece Collection Robotech Scott Bernard VFA Bookends

I have started a shift of interest from transformable mecha toy to mecha statue and I practically gave up my transformable Veritech Alpha Fighters for this bookends. The Veritech Alpha Fighter is an asset of Mospeada and migrated to the universal of Robotech, the VFA-6H was Earth's premier 3rd-generation transformable fighter, serving the REF through its mission in deep space and the reclamation missions to Earth. The H version was marked with blue colouring and was typically flown by officers such as Scott Bernard. 

 In year 1935, the second generation of Alpha fighters were introduced. These would be the primary models which would participate in the Third Robotech War and endear themselves to the many Earth resistance groups which operated the units during the years of occupation. The 6H, 6I, and VE-6B models were specifically designed to replace the now decade old 6A, 6B and VE-6A models respectively. Bookends are intended function as bookends to the collection of Robotech Masterpiece Alpha volumes. Each bookend is sculpted by Shin Tanabe, finely detailed cold-cast porcelain sculptures can stand on their own as statues and stand approximately 8 inches tall( How I wished Toynami had made it bigger ). Anyway, the bookends featured an exciting battle tableau between Scott Bernard’s VFA-6H Alpha Fighter and an Invid Enforcer. Limited edition of 1,000 unit and I bought mine from Robotech.com Store which I must praise them for the reasonable pricing and excellent service and prompt reply when dealing with the unreceived parcel.

Robotech Super Poseable Alpha Shadow Fighter

In 2003, Toynami had made an attempt to revive Robotech with a full scale assault of Robotech merchandises to test market, the first wave was the introduction of Super Poseable Veritechs from the Macross saga. After learning that there’s demand on Robotech stuffs, especially in the US market, Toynami had then moved onwards to explore Alpha Tech Specs! Therefore, Alpha Fighters later injected to the Super-Poseable line, with these exciting action figures! 

Alpha Shadow Fighter stands out among other Alphas with its variation. Produced in the later part of Robotech 3rd saga or Mospeada, Shadow Alphas were produced for the final earth reclaim assault on the invids. Improved on the weaknesses on a typical Alpha Fighter, the Shadows can be piloted by human or unmanned. It can go into stealth mode which explained the black/grey colour scheme. Shadow’s armament had also improved as it had been equipped with high velocity beam rifle rather than bullet rounds. 

The figure originally came in a blister card, but somehow the plastic packaging had turned yellow over time, so I was forced to un-card it. Even though the figure is non-transformable, it stands tall at 7”, is dynamically sculpted and fully articulated with over 28 points of articulation from ball-jointed hips, shoulders to rotating heels to toes for solid balance. It also comes with gunpod accessory.

Robotech Mospeada Yellow Belmont Custom Painted Cyclone Rider

Upon seeing yellowing on the plastic of my loose Cyclone bike rider kind of upset me but this in turn created that motivational factor for me to customize it to something that was never in production by Gakken. Taking MegaHouse Yellow 1/15 Cyclone bike as a reference, I had unscrewed and hand painted the old Gakken figure. Upon completion, I used matt spray as a top-coat to remove the paint gross. I have also restored the peel off stickers by trimming of the worn off edges and used double sided tape to paste them back. A very interesting experiment that fortunately all turn out right. Maybe I could do a customization of Houquet et Rose in future. That would be a tough one. Ha! Ha!

Mospeada 21 Cyclone Bike - Gakken

It's bigger than Megahouse version

After taking pics of Mospeada IMENs, it gives me the adrenaline to take more pics of my Mospeada related toys. Let me introduce you to the vintage cyclone bike that was manufactured by Gakken in 1988.

Let me also bring you back to the history of toy making in Singapore. Believe it or not! This toy is made in Singapore. If I am not mistaken, there used to have a toy factory along Lorong 6 Toa Payoh .

This toy stands about 11" (slightly shorter that Barbie doll). Mine is in condition C8, MIB with sticker unapplied. There is also the Japanese version of this cyclone bike and unfortunately I don't have it.

Taking into consideration of the complexity of transformation, I don't thing this toy was catered for young children. I remember when I was at a very young age, my dad had bought a Cyclone Bike for me when we visited Isetan Parkway Parade. Obviously the cyclone bike didn't survive in my hands shortly after it was taken out from box. I was left only with the figure. Sigh...I seriously can't transform it toy without referring to the instruction manual and I probably took me 20 minutes to figure it out.
