Happy Birthday Singapore! SG50 celebrating Golden Jubilee in style, has been the talk of our Garden City with many SG50 commemorative merchandise been introduced. Here is one generous gift from 'Ministry of Education' for students right from primary to tertiary. Lego is undoubtedly, one of the best gift for any students. The SG50 gift set is titles: Building My SG Reflect, Celebrate, Inspired. It comprises of 244 parts and is part of a learning journey for students to assemble into three architectures that well represented Singapore. In fact, some schools even encouraged their students to build other stuffs that best represent Singapore to inspire creativity beyond the reference.
My 7-year-old son first fixed the Changi Airport Control Tower which I think he could relate to it the most. The second architecture he fixed was the Cavenagh Bridge. He probably didn't have much impression of Cavenagh Bridge although we had been there before. He kind of like building bridge over 'Gardens by the Bay - Tree Top'. It's a learning journey for me as when to read up and find out more about Cavenagh Bridge and learned that it is the only suspension bridge and one of the oldest bridge in Singapore. Goes to say 'Helix Bridge' isn't a suspension bridge? Just like the talk show 'We Are Singapore'.

Singapore is a relatively new independent nation and at least by the information available on internet, it seems to have had some difficult years, with rampant criminality and corruption (my country still has to deal with such burdens, yet i think that is a nice place to live =) )... i hope that in this 50th Anniversary, the situation there in your country has improved in all aspects !!!... as for the Lego sets, these are definitely a distinctive way to commemorate this anniversary !!!... =)

Singapore had transformed from a fishing village to a garden city. A lot of the improvements after independence goes to the credits of our former prime minister, the late Lee Kuan Yew. Our current prime minister, who is the son of Lee Kuan Yew, Mr Lee Hsien Long and his team of govt officials are also doing a good job maintaining the stability. Every nation has it existing problems. I will think in Singapore the probs ain't too serious due to efficient govt. Still we need some opposing voices for check and balance so our government don't get too big headed and arrogance. The government must not forget the middle and low income families and look at the perspectives from their citizens' need besides country's development. We have since enjoyed more freedom but I'm not sure if our people are ready for the freedom of speech. We need of younger generation to be more appreciative, more respectful and more resilient. A more graceful society, Singaporean with pride but not arrogance, one who are selfless and not keyboard warrior. Be diligent and not overslept dreamers. I hope my children continue to enjoy the fruits of our labour and may the small red dot nation on map continue to sparkle to many many years to come ^_^
