Central Mall Singapore for Otakus

I used to think that Central Mall is a boring place but my opinion had since changed after the last visit. I meant you should pay a visit to this serene mall especially if you are an otaku. Beside seeing the real Japanese shopping around, there are shops selling Japanese and anime/manga stuffs. If you are looking for a quiet spot to ease the mind, try the 'Book Mart'. They have books, magazines, manga, preowned Playstation games and DVD for sale and rental. You can also sit down, order a drink and spent time browsing through the above articles I had mentioned. If you are hungry, there are numerous restaurants within the mall that you will be spoiled for choice. My personal dining choice at Central Mall would certainly be Marutama Ramen!

Loaction:  6 Eu Tong Sen Street, Singapore 059817, (Located just above Clarke Quay MRT Station)

i watched not so long ago a documentary TV program in Discovery about Singapore city and i found it modern, with a great infrastructure, cosmopolitan and with the most impressive Ferris Wheel !!!... i guess it must be a place plenty of manga, anime and even comic stuff, this mall is a sample... =)

Thank you for getting to more about my sunny island. Certainly one of the most livable countries in the world that attracts many expatriates. Singapore is an strategic port by itself so we are very much accessible to imported stuffs. Due to the heavy movement of immigrants and settlers, plus good infrastructure (Thanx to the good government), we are multi racial and cultural, both old & new. The ferris wheel you mentioned is as known as 'Singapore Flyer', it's still the biggest ferris wheel in the world I think. We rely a lot on tourism so you can expect a lot of happening tourist attractions. Our shopping belt and stand alone shopping malls are also world class. It's hard to save up staying here. Hee! Hee!

Thanx for the support bro! If we earn a decent living, live within our means and not lavishly. We are fortunate ones. After all, there's no natural disaster here.

When I go to the mall it is the usual clothing shops and a couple movie /gaming stores.

I remember one gunpla store that only was around for less than a year. It was a great find for the time it was there. Just not enough anime love here in the US like on the other side of the world.

Like you, I usually go to the mall with the shops I like and they are mainly shops with manga, toys and games. Nowadays, normally go shopping or should I say loitering in between the time after sending my daughter to school and before work. It's true that business is hard to sustain without enough threshold volume of patrons. Businesses on such hobbies are niche and difficult to make a profit.

Cheer up OtakuLover! They are still a large pool who enjoyed being outgoing Otaku, participating in various popculture events. Though it's sad to see some just isolate themselves.
