This is for fans of cannon fodder and those into mecha troopers like me! Here is Appleseed SWAT Guges Landmate trading figure. I believed this piece is the most sought after among the others. If I'm not wrong, the Japan release comes as a set of blind box and this is the special figure. Mine is the US release by Toycom in collaboration with Yamato Toys. It's open concept for the liberty of choosing the figure you like on card.
A bit on the history - Appleseed started as an original comic by Shirow Masamune and the figurine is based on the movie in 2004. Shirow Masamune other outstanding works include 'Ghost in the Ghost', 'Dominion' and 'Black Magic'.
Definitely the biggest figurine among 7 others as Landmate is the exoskeleton mechanism suit operated by human. When you look at the figure, you can literally see the smaller human arms and the bigger mechanic arms mimicking the wearer's arm movement. A brilliant idea that gives us a glimpse of robotic develop in the near future.
In the movie, these exo-suits were assigned to the eSWAT and the white scheme is usually the primary colour worn by most Police operatives and to the Japanese, white is the colour that represents justice. The consistency of the paint ain't perfectly smooth on close up but it is considerably neat and the prints on the figure certainly are sharp for a small figure. The figure would look bigger if it is not in kneeling pose.

Man, I just love this movie!... If my memory doesn’t fail me, it was the first anime / 3D animation movie I watched and it blew my mind!... Since it’s impossible in my homeland to watch this kid of movies in theaters, I had to resort to my PC, but I have an old yet really handy 7.1 sound system and the experience was awesome!... I heard about collectibles based on this movie, but this one is not familiar for me; however, since this was made for the American market, maybe it would be available at that time in EvilBay, nowadays, I don’t think so... The figure was nicely sculpted, it has a lot of detail and the paint job albeit not perfect, is quite good bearing in mind the size of the figure...
P.S. as far as I know, white, as color, is related with death in Japanese culture, which is weird for western minded people like me...
Never know this movie has so much impact on you and I must agreed that the CGI is first of the better ones compared to most other anime movies of its time. It’s also have impressive mecha designs and story plot. White is also mostly associated to funerals in oriental whereas the western has the opposite colour in black. Just like Ying & Yang ^_^
If the enemy hits one of the human arms, it means that individual would be in danger. Weird design and no protection for the arms.
That’s a strong point bro! It’s practical to say that the exposed human arms increase the risk of casualties. It should be concealed.
