Macross 1/48 Scale VF-1J GBP Great Battroid Pack Armour Parts

Got the GBP-01 Armour Parts set and finally decided to unbox it for Hikaru Ichijo VF-1J to complete the TV series Super Dimensional Fortress Macross GBP (Great Battroid Pack) appearance, in episode 9, Miss Macross. Everything is the standard Yamato high-quality. The box has detailed photos of all the parts, both on and off the Battroid. There are two nosecone depending on whether you like the anime accurate version or the practical application of pointy crotch.

The nicely detailed armour parts hold together very well and there is additional part to each leg armour to hide the seam that runs down the front of the leg. The two backpack boosters feature movable exhaust nozzles, which is a nice touch, and they attach quite securely to the back of the mecha. With armour parts mounted, the Valkyrie's posability is somewhat limited, nonetheless it's how it supposed to be and all in all still amazing.

Instead of the fat optional hands, this set comes with new mechanic hands that are much better scaled, from close fists or for holding the rifle. GBP to feature all the right opening missile bays. The missile bays also incorporate smart hinge designs that largely conceal said hinges for a better overall look. The launchers on the chest actually move forward when the hinges are opened. Just that the mechanism is pretty delicate and may misalign if the missiles are pushed too forcefully.

The 1/48 accessory improved upon this toy by adding individually removable missiles on rear and side leg launchers, Shoulder mounted missiles, chest and shoulder mounted missiles. Also removable grenades on the hips, and removable grenades on arm mounted launchers. Talk about overkill and spectacular scene when all of these missiles and grenades. Decal stickers include for individual to customised the GBP from the U.N. Spacy insignia to numbering. Just feel that the surface seems uneven after applying stickers, as such I spray matte top coat through the toy.

In conclusion, Yamato did an awesome job for top-notch construction! It is a very nice set, a must-have for any die-hard Macross / Robotech fan. Hope it's not to late to blog of this out-of-production Macross holy grail...

I’m the anime! Hikaru released all the missiles, shed the armour and quickly escaped from the explosion πŸ’₯

Pretty awesome set, with extraordinary level of detail and accuracy, all those opening missile pods and the fact that you can attach the whole armor to an already complex action figure, speaks very well about the quality standards Yamato delivers to collectors... That’s a gem, pal !!!... =OOOOO

Yeah bro! I really like this piece a lot and after having this, I won’t go for any other GBP. The quality speaks for itself. Furthermore, the size of the toy is good enough to draw much attention.

This Mecha design is evolutionary and later adopted in many other Mecha anime!
