MG Gundam RX-78 Mark II A.E.U.G Version 1.0 - Tarnished Painted

Good old Gundam that once pioneered the flagship of Master Grade Gunpla. Classic design that took over the torch of the first Gundam. Guess my blog is targeted to the old folks of Gunpla! This painted kit was not made by me but bought at Singapore Gunpla Society Forum. It was bought years back even before the launched of MG Gundam RX-78 Mark II Version 2.0. To me, it's still a real nice piece of display. The previous owner had told me he had purposely added some residues to the white paint to give the Gundam a more raggard and worn-off effect.

This older version had no inner frame and lost out in terms of articulation however the design remain faithful to the look in anime with the bulkiness and muscle. The RX-178 Gundam Mk-II are three prototype mobile suits developed by the Titans, an elite special unit of the Earth Federation forces, in UC 0087. These are the first Gundam units seen in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, based on the original RX-78 Gundam. After been captured, Titans color scheme is replaced by the AEUG in favor of the traditional white and blue, to make it look less sinister.

No doubt that the RX-178 Mark II is a more than worthy successor of the RX-78, a great link between the past and the newer generations !!!... Some time has passed since the release of the Z Gundam Series and this guy has some years on his back, but hey, he looks very, very good, with that imposing presence, nice design and color scheme... Maybe it was not as revolutionary as the Gundam Zeta itself, but more recent mecha designs, like those created for the Gundam Seed Series, take several elements of this old mobile suit, in my humble opinion... =D

It's true that the MKII's design didn't deviate a lot from the origin RX-78 Gundam. A safe direction for Gundam Z series to first introduced MKII before a daring entrance of the transformable Zeta Gundam. Which by the way, Zeta has an advance design and was like by many.
