Taken out from storage and finally taken out of box for display this 1st edition Yamato 1/60 Macross Battle Suit Queadluun-Rau 639 Milia version. From the anime 'Super Dimension Fortress Macross'. It was left inside storeroom so long that the transparent insert of Yamato's 2004 Milia's Queadluun-Rau action toy had turned yellow. My bad : (
By the way, I'm discarding the box and putting this red hot saucy alien mecha on display. Standing 29cm and towering over most of my other 1/60 valkyries, this customized red battle suit is fully articulated right down to its individually movable fingers.
Due to the awkward design of the mecha, the unfair weight distribution and thin legs had resulted in imbalance with the tendency of the toy tipping over. That is be my greatest dissatisfaction of this toy. It kind of has the same prob like Matchbox' Glaug.
Some of the gimmick this toy provides is that cockpit can be opened to reveal optional Milia pilot figure in her flight suit as well as the intricately detailed interior. The covers on the backpack missile launchers are openable and comes with two interchangeable missile launcher parts for the legs. With this, the toy is set to re-enact the moment of missile unleash just like Great Battroid Pack GBP! I had spray matte top coat over the toy to cancel the plastic look and feel on the surface.

i still remember some of the alien combat units of Macross, and i remember as well, that they weren’t my cup of coffee... its oblong design is too odd for my taste, the squared mecha designs of the late 70s and the beginning of the 80s was far better, but the enemy units used to be oblong or irregular in most cases, regardless the anime series in question...
this toy, on the other hand, has the heaviness and strength of the vintage toys of such era and this plays against it, because it will keep falling over and over again... however, this is a quality collectible you will not see very often and your matte top coat, certainly works to improve its appearance !!!... =)

I like the Valkyrie from Macross a lot more over the alien mecha and I got this more to relate to Millia. They are in way unique and distinctive due their odd design. I guess the matte top coat has become a essential item for preservation and beautifying of my gems.
its a unique mecha and has a pilot cockpit in it,, but is that really a 1/60 scale ? have you compared it with your PG or 1/60 gundam ? because it seems rather big for 1/60 scale IMO

For a 1/60, this is quite a big mecha. The alien on Macross are giant anyway. Out size the human believing size and strength for superiority. I put in the 1/60 Valkyrie for a size comparison.
I see so the scale is out sized,, just wondering before because it looks so big

The bigger the better : ) with the size, it really is imposing!
Good to have a pilot figure sitting inside and cockpit can be opened..
She's more like standing in the cockpit. Still I can't agree more that it's cool.
I love how the matte top coat you sprayed on it made the toy look more premium. Do you remember what brand top coat you used?
