Lord of the Rings : The Hobbit 2012 - An Unexpected Journey

Quite a long wait for fans of ‘Lord of the Rings’ after all the thumbs up for the previous trilogy. Peter Jackson has again lead us to an another perilous journey back to Middle Earth with Hobbit Bilbo Baggins and 13 dwarves, who were determined to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor at Lonely Mountain from dragon Smaug.

A prequel set 60 years before the LOTR trilogy whereby the ‘Hobbit’, would give a better understanding to how Bilbo Baggin obtained the ring before he transferred the burden to his nephew, Frodo. You get to see familiar characters like Gandalf, Smeagol, Saruman, Lady Galadriel and Elrond. Revisit the serene Rivendell and how Gandalf found his sword and Blibo’s orc glowing dagger in the treacherous wood, roamed by orcs and golems.

An explanation of why the council decided to leave the ruined castle unchecked and eventually gave rise to Sauron. Like most of the the LOTR movies, Hobbit had also provide a worthy long 170mins of entertainment and the story didn't just end there with sources revealing that it’s going to be another trilogy.

Good movie. i thought some scenes were quite draggy (eg. The visit of the dwarves one by one to Bilbo's house and ransack his kitchen) but I was corrected by my friend who is a fan of the book that the scene fleshes out the strong camadarie and friendship of the dwarves. All in all very enjoyable and I can't disagree with my friend

I actually rewatch the 'Return of the King' to set myself in the mood for the 'Hobbit'. I guess for someone like you and I who didn't read the novel, the visit to Bilbo's house can be a bit draggy. Overall, I enjoyed the movie a lot. One of the better ones this year.

Like the 'Fellowship' the beginning usually has a lot to explain. I think the pacing is still alright for me for someone who enjoys LOTR...

Just watched this movie today and I would say another epic trilogy is coming!
it wasnt too draggy during the first 40 minutes for me as they need to set the tone for the coming scenes.
