Toynami Masterpiece Vol 1 VF-1J Rick Hunter

A toy that was released in U.S back in 2002 by California design company ‘Toynami’, which at that time had teamed up with Robotech license holder Harmony Gold to re-launch this wonderful toyline in addition, making it even better. The volume 1 released was VF-1J based on the Robotech ‘The Macross Saga’. The packaging takes the form of a book with in premium masterpiece outlook. Flipped over the book cover and you will see the toy in battroid mode with all accessories displaced (primarily the missiles, rifle, pilot & ladder). In making the toy even more exclusive, the first installation of Masterpiece VF-1J was limited to 15000 pieces (My lucky number is 14922). As claimed by Toynami at that time (before any Yamato’s released their 1/60 & 1/48) the most accurate representation of the Veritech fighter aka Valkyrie ever created in three dimension. The toy was crafted from a combination of plastic and die-cast metal. Note the die-cast landing gear with authentic rubber tires. The biggest catch would be the functional LED light in the battroid’s visor. At 1/55 scale, the cockpit opens with the pilot removable, as is the pilot’s cockpit ladder. This VF-1J is a true transformable, with no parts requiring removal to transform from Fighter to Gerwalk to Battroid.

seriously pal... WOW!!! this is a wonderful collectible and clearly deserves the tag "Masterpiece".. the resin in which it was manufactured gives it a sharp detail and the packaging looks pretty vintage.. it looks great after 10 years or so, this is a delicacy!!! =)

I must agree that Toynami had put in a lot of effort in this project and at one time, they were really doing extremely well. They had asked to fans' prayers before the later bloom of Yamato. No doubt, I like the packaging a lot. It's a class of its own.

This masterpiece collection veritech is very much an improvement based on the first 1/55 takatoku. The new version streamline the design making it more anime correct and added more point of articulations. Hee! Hee! Seems like the 7th pics caught many of you guys' attention. Something different from those direct review shots. Thx!

Super Dimensional Fortress Macross is an epic which I think those who are only exposed to Macross Frontier should relook the classic.
