Schindler's List

Usually I would just watched swallow movies that are mostly brawling and fighting. But today I had watched a brilliant movie that is worth spending my time watching. I had just finished watching a VCD titled 'Schindler's List' that a friend namely Anton had borrowed me. At first, I wasn't quite interested to watch cos I have never heard of this movie and the VCD cover didn't say anything much about the movie.

I was only when I started watching the movie, I realised I was captivated and then I could not get my eyes of the television. The movie realistically touches my inner self and brings out the empathy in me to see others who suffer.

This movie is based on a true story of a righteous Nazi member known as Oskar Schindler. He had used Jews to start a factory in Poland during the second world war. But started using his wealth and wits to save the Jews after witnessing the horrible acts and massacres carried out by the Nazi army on the Jews.

The duration of the movie is pretty long as this is a 3 discs VCD. The movie was shown in colours in the beginning but colours slowly faded away in a artistic way. I guess the director did it on purpose to suit the era of second world war. Make a guess who the director is? You definitely have heard of him. Yes! He is the famous Steven Spielberg who brought us E.T. Schindler's List was filmed in 1993 and had won 7 Oscars & another 63 wins.

Here's the movie trailer....

New Banner

I hope you have noticed that I have given my blog's header title a new look, though it may not look impressive. This piece of amateur work is really a trial & error process to make up the image in JPG format with a lot of help from Adobe photoshop.

In fact, I started doing it around yesterday's midnight when I realised that JPG pic could be used as header title. Immediately, I started working on it as ideas flooded my thoughts. Then I began to face problems after problems because I have never used Adobe photoshop before. All the trials and errors dragged on till about 4.00am before something presentable surfaced. The final touch up was around 11.00am after I waked up.

It is a lot of hard work and I hope it is still pleasing to your eye? Thank you Harold a.k.a Haro for giving me such words of encouragement at the chat box. Thank you very much again!

Freddie's MS

Who says E.F.S.F don't have mobile suit! Shortly after the implementation of project V, E.F.S.F soon mass produce GM which then evolved to RGM like the one you see here.

In my opinion, Bandai had definitely launched the Gundam Fix Figuration for toy collectors who find fixing model kit a hassle. These Gundam Fix Figuration toys were made to 1/144 scale with detail specification. It is as detail as the model kit and you don't ever need to apply stickers. The printings were nicely done on the figure. What a breakthrough!

Beside all these advantages, Gundam Fix Figuration figures comes with interchangeable parts that give you the choice to which mobile suit design you prefer. Just take this Gundam Fix Figuration 0026 for example, you can choose between a Gundam or a RGM.

It's like having two toys for the price of one! However, the price of Gundam Fix Figuration don't come cheap. The price ranges from S$65 - S$95/-.

White knight

A well sculptured Gundam RX78 by Banpresto. Usually Banpresto produced toys made of less premium quality plastic. However this one is better than expected. The size of this Gundam is about the same size of any regular Gundam action figures from MSIA (Mobile Suit In Action) and Gundam Fix Figuration (Around 1/144 scale). Comes with all necessary Gundam accessories and also the co-fighter ( the little plane).

Zaku warriors

These are two vintage Zaku toys from HCM series. On the right is Shin Matsunaga (White Wolf). Actually Shin's Zaku is supposed to be white. I have no idea why it was made black like the Tristar Zaku.

The flaming red Zaku belongs to Johnny Ridden(Crimson Lightning). Many may mistook it as Char's Zaku. Johnny's Zaku is indeed more redish bright. What a showy! Take a look at their emblem!

Sieg Zeon!

Principality of Zeon was founded by the Zabi family with the goal to gain independence from the Earth Federation. One big mistake made by the Zeon army was to drop a colony onto earth causing massive destruction. As a result, The Zabi family had been blamed for the cruelty and brutality.

Zeon army had explored into mobile suit technologies and invented Zaku 1. This technology that given them the upper hand in the first half of the one year. The Zaku1 was then upgraded to Zaku 2, like the ones you are in the pics. Some elite pilots of Zeon had customized their Zakus making them more personalized. These Zakus also bear their trademark logo or emblem.

Some of the top Zeon pilots are Char Azanable (Red Comet), Shin Matsunaga (White Wolf) & Johnny Ridden (Crimson Lightning). The red Gundam was stolen by Zeon and piloted by Char.

Finally have a bit of time to take pics on another section of my display showcase. This section comprises mainly my Gundam Chogokin toys from various Gundam series. Another corner of the showcase is dedicated to the baddies mobile suits from Gundam series. Another wave of Gundam toys is coming your way!

Harmony Gold action figure

What a vintage action figure of Scott Bernard by Harmony Gold that is still mint in card (on the right). This toy from the 80s was packed in the same style like Starwars and GI Joes action figures. Harmony Gold as had also introduced the cyclone bike that was non-transformable. The one I had (on the left) was a loose piece and in quite a poor condition. The bike stand had also broken and the bike to lean on something in order to stand. So much for Mospeada cyclone bike for now. I will now take a break and will be showing toys on Legioss Alpha fighters soon.

A peek-a-boo! on other cyclone bike toys coming our way vroom.. vroom......

Variable Action

These MegaHouse cyclone bikes were release soon after CM's Toy releases theirs. I think MegaHouse had done a better job in his box artwork design. They even let you take a peek of the toy through the plastic window. Unfortunately, there isn't any metal diecast part on the toy. The MegaHouse cyclone is also bigger and easy to the hands.

At first, there were rumours that MegaHouse had licensing issue that the company could only sell the toy domestically in Japan. Due to such speculation, the price of each piece cost about S$150/-. After the issue had clear up, the price of the toy then dropped to about S$80/- per piece. Sometime it is more wise to wait and see before buying toys.

See how expert this fellow transform the cyclone armour....

Brave Stick & Ley

Here is my collection of chogokin cyclone bikes by CM's Toy. The box seems rather small and I presume the actual toy ain't very big. When I bought these toys, the boxes were already wrapped up by transparent plastic. So, till now I have not inspect the box interior.

CM's Toy had marketed the it's toys in such a way that you really have to buy Stick (Scott Bernard) version and Ley (Rand) version as a pair. If you see the pics, the artwork to both the boxes seems almost identical. CM's Toy should put more effort on artwork to differentiate the variant. BTW, I also received news the CM's will soon launch the Blowsuperior (Yellow/Lancer) version. Let's keep our fingers cross!

Genesis Climber

This is a metal diecast Stig (Scott Bernard in Robotech) in his cyclone armour. It stands around 12cm but non-transformable. Too bad there are some yellowing on some parts of the plastic. Nevertheless, this vintage toy still look good on display.

Speed Racer & Iron Man

Had just watched Iron Man the movie yesterday together with Irene. We had brought Wenzel along cos we don't bear to leave her at home. I must say that our little girl has been very sensible and well-behaved even though she only three. Maybe it's the gene? Hee! Hee! A little bit of self praise.

Please don't be mistaken that this is the blog on my children. Cheez.... Anyway, I really enjoy watching Iron Man and I think the director had done a good job on the story and character development with a touch of humor. The part when Tony Stark built the first prototype Iron Man is very intriguing. Will be looking forward to see Iron Man joining the Avengers and also his friend becoming the sidekick War Machine. This is exciting! Proton cannon blast!

I hope I am not the only person enjoying the movie. All of us loved eating the popcorns and Wenzel especially. But she was a bit frighten by the sound of gunshots and explosion and she eventually fallen asleep halfway through the movie. Irene then had to cover Wen'z ears so as not to disturb her nap.

Probably as a promotional tactic for the upcoming Speed Racer Movie, the Golden Villager GV popcorn container comes in the shape of a Speed Racer car if you purchase the combo meal. Because we watched the movie and obtained the drinks and popcorns using complimentary tickets, we didn't have the Speed Racer car. However, we are lucky to accidentally found one discarded Speed Racer popcorn container on a trash bin while exiting the cinema. So I took it for Wenz and Denz as a toy after I have cleaned it. Hee! Hee! A bit cheapskate right?

Mini Mospeada : The Henshin Robo Motorcycle Freaks!

These are smaller version of the deluxe 12" cyclone bike. The box of smaller Mospeada 21 VR-052-F is almost identical to the deluxe version. However the smaller cyclone bike is so much less detail. In terms of variant, the smaller cyclone bike has Blowsuperior version don by Yellow and also Bartley version. They are real vintage and hard to find nowadays!

1/60 VF-1A Brown Toy'R'Us Ver 1 + GBP Set

Front view of box

Back view of box

Yamato likes to produce a lot of VF1A variants. Just for the 1/60 scale, they have come out with Hikaru, Max, limited TV brown and also this Toy R'us exclusive. The difference between the limited brown version and Toy R'us exclusive is that the Toy R'us exclusive has darker colour tone.

When I played Macross DYRL on Sega Saturn and Playstation one, I saw a storyboard pic of VF1A in GBP (Great Battroid Pack). I find rather untypical and thus decided on letting my VF1A Toy R'us exclusive don the armored parts. Solid right!

In the past, I used to buy toys in a pair. I would take one out for display and keep the other in MISB. Strangely, both my 1/60 VF1A Hikaru Ichijo DYRL version were affected by yellowing. If you see the pics on the battroid, you will see the yellowing were mainly on the wings, thighs and wheel covers on legs.

I am thinking of using white Gundam marker to conceal the the yellowing parts. Somehow I always procrastinate.

This is skull leader to all SDF1 fighters! Lock on to enemy! Yamato VF1S strike valkyrie 1/60 scale is awesome! A really formidable machine when pilot by war veteran Roy Focker in DYRL. The addition equipment would give this VF1S maximum speed and fire power.

Roy Focker had always been a big brother figure to Hikaru. He had also influenced Hikaru to becoming a fighter pilot. It is really sad to see Roy died in the original animation. I remember that moment clearly even though as a kid.

This is a Yamato 1/60 scale VF1S featured in DYRL. I hope you will like how it was posed.
