A random pick from my display shelf is this 1/55 Customised Ben Dixon VF-1A which I had bought on eBay sometime back together with 1/55 customised Max VF-1A in order to complete my skull squadron. Due to yellowing, the toy looks very much cream in colour now. Fortunately, the colour change is homogenous and good thing it was customised to look weathered from the start. Quite a gem to me for a 1/55 valkyrie unique to factory produced ones. I really appreciated the previous owner for repainting this vintage toy. The decals were neatly pasted and finest mod was giving a longer & sleeker antenna to the VF-1A head.

Some of the paint seems to change color from white to brownish but still the condition still look okay. Nice bargain. :)
Oh yes, the toy is aging and really weathering. Well, it's still one of a kind. Hee! Hee!
i think they weatheting effect does make this toy look cooler. nice score, dude. ;)
Cool robotech custom, poor big Ben. Always kind da like how his scheme is one up to the cannon fodder / mass production valks, a brownie who good but not that good.
Thik he was in vermillion with rick and max.

Indeed, some extra touch to your toy could make it cool and pleasing to the eyes.

It's a pity Ben didn't survive throughout the series. I guess you are right about him been the best among all other brownies.
Weather does add a nice touch and at 1/55 scale, not a bad purchase either
The previous owner sure put a lot of effect on the decal placement and weathering ^^ You seem to have a knack for picking up bargains bro!
Everything look okay here..The yellowish colour doesn't affect the overall appearance of the figure..Very well maintain!!
i actually thought it was the original colour! haha. Oh ya, i've always wondered, for such an old model, are certain parts very hard to transform? i've had problems with my G1 transformers which made my life miserable when transforming it as i dunwan to damage it.
for me, the best "angle" of this guy is by far the Gerwalk mode, but even with the aging issue, it looks pretty fine in almost every sense, however old toys r not my cup of they (i think i’ll suffer a lot when mines become old too LOL)
Ben Dixon will always have a special place in my personal anime history. He is the first anime character I watched die.... at that time, there wasn't an anime that had anybody die before. The effect was so great, I couldn't sleep that night. I was such as weak kid. lol

Weathering gives a ragged and hide the flaws. Hee! Hee!

I really like it's a piece of art and I guess I'm lucky to have found them.

I had wiped the toy with plastic cleaner before photo taking. That's minimum maintenance. Hee! Hee!

This old toy is easier to me to transformer since I have dealt with me since young. The transformation is easier and the quality sure is stronger than newer Macross toys.

A mixture of vintage & new toys can spice up the collection so you would appreciated the evolution of toys.

I'm touched by the scene a lot too! Even more touched to hear your experience. Every man has their soft spot.
