MG RX-93 Nu Gundam 1/100 Model Kit

Famous as well as old-school and probably the last Gundam of 'White Devil' Amuro Ray unless Sunrise decided to rewrite 'Char's Counterattack'. One of the most advance MS on U.C 0093, concept and requested by Amuro Ray to face nemesis' MS Sazabi. Nu Gundam was incorporated with psycoframe technology unfortunately not elaborated in this kit unless you have the improved 'Kai' version which shows the psycoframe like Unicorn Gundam destory mode. Beside the basic gundam weapons such as vulcan guns, beam saber beam rifle and hyper bazooka.

Nu Gundam claimed the title to be the first Gundam-type machine to be equipped with fin funnels. Controlled only by new-type and in the OVA movie, amazingly used by Gundam Ace in both offensive and defensive maneuvers as cool as forming a beam force field with fin funnels. Those fin funnels mounted at the backpack also gave great height to the model kit. I'm not the builder of this gunpla nonetheless I loved the way it was assembled and all came fully done and painted. I'm thrilled by those Amuro Ray's insignia especially the main on the shield. Certainly one of the most iconic and best designed in Gundam history.

Banpresto 'Ichiban Kuji' Gundam Amuro Ray Figure

My other priced collection is this Banpresto's Ichiban Kuji Kidou Senshi Gundam figure of E.F.S.F ace of aces pilot, Amuro Ray A.K.A White Devil. Figure is based on U.C timeline 0093 when Char's counter attack. Amuro was with 'Londo Bell' Fleet then and here's how he looked in his pilot suit with his hair rebonded. The ABS figure stands approximately 18cm and firmly attached to a white plastic base, about the same height with regular MG Gunpla. Considering it the second best prize of the draw, the top prize is a head bust of Nu Gundam. Cool pose of a confident Amuro swinging his helmet to the rear. Great sculpt that even shown the wrinkles on the suit, a lot of details and neat paint works. The fleet emblem clearly displayed on the left arm. There are also some panel lines on the backpack. If you noticed, there is a pistol holster strapped to the right calf.

1/144 HGUC Jegan RGM-89

EFSF longest serving Mobile Suit serving as Londo Bell task force during timeline of "Char's Counterattack" OVA to colony defenders later during "Mobile Suit Gundam F91" OVA. The economical and simple designed mecha that you won't get tired looking at, with many more variants in "Unicorn Gundam" mini series, beside Jegan's standard Beam Rifle, Beam Saber, and shield. Comes with 2 fists and 1trigger finger hand. Jegan was introduced in the U.C era where MS were built bigger some in 1/144 scale the kit appears slightly bigger than other GMs of the same scale.

One very unusual design of Jegan is that it didn't have any front skirt and ankle armor, so those who are not used to it may find it pretty weird. To on the practical side, the design provide spacious articulation of the legs. There was a previous released of 1/144 scale Jegan however this is 2009 released is by far the best in terms of proportionality and articulated (especially the arms). The shoulders armor articulate, shoulder with improved joints that rotate and goes up and down. The lower torso also has that rotation and forth and back action for more poses.

Bandai had also utilized this mold for many exclusive variants. The drawback of this kit is that the colour scheme isn't quite close to the anime. The actual colour looks pale however it shouldn't bother those who intend to spray their own colours. The kit lacks color on it's shoulder, leg boosters, the boosters on top of the backpack and the vents on the chest which are easily fixed with a set of markers and a steady hand. All I did was to dry brush the entire kit beside panel lining to create more contrast.  Overall good kit, didn't take much time to build and just required a bit of touching up to get the most out of the kit.

DX Sazabi MSN-04

Let's post something red for auspicious reason this Chinese New Year. However in Gundam context, seeing red means deep shit if you bumped into Red Comet. Here it is a 12" DX Sazabi released in 2002 by Bandai. I would say Sazabi is one of most powerful mono-eye MS around in the Gundam universe though its timeline was during 'Char's Counterattack'. Well, the DX version is huge as you can see from the size comparison with MG Re-GZ. Came in a big box with window so consumers could see the actual toy.

Upon opening the box, you would most of the accessories came in parts on tree and required some trimming and assembling. The figure came quite detailed and you could see the insignia and fine markings. The set has all the weapons Sazabi needed from beam rifle, shield, fin funnel and either beam saber or axe to go on melee. DX Sazabi is also packed with features like the head could open and allows to clearer look at the cockpit and mono-eye, the backpack is removable and could accommodate the 3 fin funnels on each side of the tray.

In additional, the axe aka beam tomahawk, has a telescoping handle and could be attached to the shield. All the individual fin fannels are removable and open up. Last but not least, the thrusters on the shoulders are adjustable. A sturdy figure however articulation restricted due to those bulky parts. The fist could not open and unfortunately optional fist wasn't included.
