My preordered Red Cliff DVD from Amazom.com has finally arrived. Since I have commented on both part 1 and part 2 of this great epic by John Woo, I'll skip the storyline. The reason of me getting this DVD apart for collection would be also to watch the extras it provides. I feel that watching the making of the movie is important as I would appreciate the movie better when I watch it again and some small details that I would take note of.
It is through watching the making, I felt John Woo commitment and determination to complete the movie despite budget constraints, bad weather during filming and more unforeseen circumstances. It is especially difficult for one like this that involved massive use of props and actors. Can really see him in despair at some point.....
Congrats to John Woo for the the awesome movie! He has made Chinese proud and earn the respect by many!

Watching SD sangokuden after school when one of the ppl I randomly meet up in lunch, told me some history about the characters in Romance of the three kingdom, then one thing led to another suggested I should watch Red cliff. Also, I became an instant fan of Zhuge Liang^^ so want to watch this now
Romance of the Three Kingdom based on historical characters and true events is such classic that it draws many fans worldwide. The two most speculator battles of that time are really battle of Guan Du and this the Red Cliff.
Bro, I agree with your statement here. Red cliff is awesome and let all ang mo see our Asian power..Hhaha!!
Nice to hear that we share the sentiments bro! A great movie by the Chinese.
WOW astonishing epic movie... since a saw some of the movies in the filmography of Zhang Yimou, chinese epic movies gets all my respect... precious photography, demanding art direction, incredible choreographies & fully interesting characters... what else i can expect ???
I like part 1 better than part 2... but I recall for western release there is only 1 movie instead of 2.

Wow, bro I'm surprised that you watched Zhang Yimou's cos his movies are rather artistic. What a big name and renown director.

This is the latest code 1 version with both part 1&2.
I haven't seen it, and I know I should. Will get my hands on this soon.
I'd recently watched Bodyguards & Assassins. Pretty good too, but probably not as epic as this one.
I have watched Bodyguards & Assassins too and personal preference is still Red Cliff where wits and strength were put to the test.
heard that this movie's great. might watch it soon. hohoho
It's definitely worth the time watching my friend.
