Gundam Universal Wave RX-78-2 Action Figure

Bandai is hopping onto the wagon of 6" action figures, similarly to their Dragonball Star Series, following Hasbro highly successful Star Wars and Marvel Legend series.  The first wave hitting stores is none other then the original Gundam RX-78-2, certainly my favourite and most iconic Gundam.

In comparison to the past MSIA (Mobile Suit In Action) figurine line, this upsized Gundam action figure appears a lot easier to handle even with my adult hands. Lolz... Though lacking in articulation when compared to the Robot Spirit toyline, Gundam Universal figures are definitely more robust and durable. In fact, I like the extendable thigh feature that allows a wider range of leg motion.

This action figure is not fanciful and Bandai only provides the basic accessories such as the shield, beam rifle and beam saber. Not forgetting an attachment compatible to Gunpla base stand for more dramatic posing. The hands available include a pair of clutch fist, rifle grabbing hand and saber holding hand.

The joints are tight and figure is very toyetic. Some other plus points includes good colour separations that's sharp and neat. The panel lines are deep and sharp hence provided potential of further enhancing the ecstatic with addition touch up.

Actually it’s a very nice figure, well made, with the right dose of details and proper finishes, I like its poseability and by your comments about it, is a sturdy product, but still attractive for collectors with budget restrictions... By the hand that holds the figure in the video, I think it has pretty much the size of an Master Grade Gundam so for display it would work pretty fine... The only downside is that it looks quite "clean" and plain, but as you mentioned, it has room for customization so I think it’s a sound move by Bandai, specially when, due to our current economical situation, a market contraction is to be expected, not only in the segment of collectibles...

Probably to add some panel lines to make the figure more definite. I’m lucky to get it a half the regular price. It’s a nice piece to play around with.
