Macross 1/48 VF-1J Hikaru Ichijo Custom Weathered

A big packaging with dramatic window box with velcro-seal opening cover

Size comparison with a 1/48 F-14 Tomcat

Through Yamato is out of the toy manufacturing industry, it left behind a legacy of innovation toys and definitely a breakthrough when it comes to anything Macross. Undeniably my favourite scale in all Macross toy line, the grand 1/48 scale by Yamato. Perfect and seamless transformation to all three modes with all the right proportionality.

VF-1J Hikaru Ichijo from the 'TV series Super Dimensional Fortress Macross' in his iconic valkyrie. Complete transformation with superb detail right to the details inside the cockpit, in a size that truly calls for two thumbs up! VF-1J Variable Fighter does jaw-dropping justice to the Valkyrie piloted by Hikaru Ichijo. It's about 30 cm long and can transform between its Fighter, Gerwalk and Battroid mode.

Figure stands over 10 inches in Battroid mode.Extra missiles and missile pods are provided as well, as is a gunpod and an in-scale figure of Hikaru Ichijo to ride in the cockpit. Yamato takes advantage of the opportunities offered by this immense scale, such as a detailed cockpit with removable pilot figure and opening cockpit hatch and nosecone complete with radar.

Weapons are included to mount or remove as you please. The toy comes with con-sealable hands however I sure prefer the optional fat hands, we see on the original TV series. This a wonderful piece of art, display box, high details, stickers to custom the plane. The original piece does come with the weathering effect so I engaged someone for is appealingly grungy weathered finish for greater realism!

Uhmmm, I thought you knew about the rebranding of Yamato, which now is marketed as Arcadia, they even have a new website (in japanese) and they still offer Premium collectibles from anime/manga series, including Macross (several sagas), Mazinkaizer, Getter, Evangelion and others... It’s kind of confusing because the american branch remains Yamato USA and they offer also Premium collectibles, but their focus is more on comic characters and mythological creatures... By the way, it’s always a pleasure to see that classic VF-1 and even more with the additional weathering work you commissioned !!!... =OOOOO

So far Arcadia hasn’t released any 1/48 scale yet and if they ever do some, pockets will be burnt. Lolz. Do wait for future post of this Mecha in GBP. I can’t wait to show you! Cheers!

That’s the best part when we stopped keeping toys in box and do something to it to make more even better looking on display.
