From the prequel of the original Super Dimensional Macross where it all starts from Zero. Pretty surprise that WAVE other than Bandai and Hasagawa had interested in the license of Macross Zero. It's non scale and stands approximately 16cm when this non transformable battroid was built. It's roughly the size of a 1/72 scale built VF-1 battroid so I estimate this kit to be around 1/100 scale since the predecessor was produced huge in the earlier production. It's basic a simple model kit with few parts to put together.
When completed the Battroid can twist at its waist, a nice feature that I am glad to see that Wave incorporated. Wave has given you two options for the left hand, opened and closed, but the right hand will always be grasping the gun pod. I think he upper section of the kit is proportional however I find the lower body, especially the legs slightly too board, probably to add on the sturdiness in various standing poses. Those seam lines can be quite obvious like mine if left untreated. Done mine fully painted, panel-lined, decal, dry-brushed with the touch of tarnishes.

I never heard about Wave producing model kits, but it seems that they have some stuff related with Macross, including the SDF-1 Fortress... Anyway it’s a very unusual line in a brand that I used to related with other kind of collectibles, like PVC statues (mainly of female characters)... For a Non Scale kit, that I guess it must be similar to the NG kits made by Bandai, I think it has a very good level of detail, a very decent level of articulation and that’s remarkable !!!... The overall design retains the classic VF style, but with a strange twist; I’m sure it’s the kind of things that happen when a "prequel" is created after the original series... =D
The robot still looks blank...no color painted on the body...

WAVE is sort of an usual company adventuring into some niche mecha toys. Their stuffs usually released in small quantity however high quality that appeal a lot to fans. For a Non Scale kit, I think the size is pretty small there's not so much to my liking. The battroid mode looks cool with the sleek legs spreading apart which the kits managed to achieve. The details also good for a small kit. The classic design to the original Macross makes it my cup of tea.

I think the dull colour relates more to our current military jet plane colour as this mecha supposedly a concept transformable plane in a not so distant future. I have fully painted the model kit for more realistic image.
