Yamato 1/60 Macross Battle Suit Queadluun-Rau 639 + CMS Maxmilian Jenius Figure

A follow-up on the hubby of Millia (1/60 Queadluun-Rau Miria / Millia) with this limited edition Yamato 1/60 Macross Battle Suit Queadluun-Rau 639 Maxmilian Jenius. In the TV series, Millia followed her husband by piloting the red VF-1 red valkyrie and in the movie 'Do You Remember Love', Max returned the flavor by pilot this alien mecha in his signature blue scheme. Yamato had not included the pilot figure in this set and the box size was also scaled down. Nonetheless the gist remain without modification. Anyway, the Max figure can be procured from CMS trading figure and he is pretty common in the market. To fit the figure in the cockpit simply by removing both the feet and turned the arms forward.

By the way, I preferred Max standing outside the mecha. Can display the Max figure with or without the helmet visor. Some of the gimmick this toy provides is that cockpit can be opened to reveal the intricately detailed interior. The covers on the backpack missile launchers are openable and comes with two interchangeable missile launcher parts for the legs. With this, the toy is set to re-enact the moment of missile unleash just like Great Battroid Pack GBP! I had spray matte top coat over the toy to cancel the plastic look and feel on the surface.

When it comes to alien battle-suits in the Macross Series and in other anime series also, these hardly "hit the nerve" of my taste... The particular model featured in this publication, reminds me an insect and the backpack looks like a frog’s face from certain angle, LOL... I know it sounded weird, but well it’s from an alien force and you don’t expect it will have a "familiar" design... But the collectible is wonderful, it was made by Yamato and it means quality, the matte top coat is almost magic, pal, it gives a nice feeling to the figure !!!... =D

There were plenty of ironic for me when it comes to these odd Queadluun-Rau couple. I used to have them, sold the pair off and ended up buying them back. I used to find the design of Queadluun-Rau ugly as well but found liking in them after losing them and with CMS' pilot figure, I found the whole package matching and smoothing. It's hard to explain like I feel complete having them.

Yeah! Great gimmick there and I do like the colour panels in the cockpit. Kind of feels like Yamato make efforts in enhancing details to the toy.
