Bandai really knows how to strike the iron while it's hot. The company came out with a lot of variants of the 20th anniversary 1/144 Chogokin Gundam RX-78-2. This prototype colour variant was part of MSV illustrated by Hirotoshi Sano. Produced in year 2001, the packaging of this gift-set is almost identical to the first 20th anniversary 1/144 Gundam RX-78-2 chogokin except the artwork. It was released as a limited edition so to so collectors, they might find collector's value in this gift-set.

i remember the first chapters of Mazinger, with its irregular drawing of characters & mechas... the colors soiled with black, almost with a primitive style... & looking at this illustration of the first series of Gundam i had the same feeling... obviously the proportions & details of the subsequent Gundam series have been improved... this chogokin reproduces the same "primitive" style, but the color scheme makes it look better, even modern... u know, a touch of color doesn’t hurt anybody HEHEHE =)
wow the prototype you also have. Recently they are releasing prototype for Robot Damashii of this.
the scheme color is nice, and this is limited :D

Maybe they are all from the same era, so the design at frist look all primitive. Over the year, redesign or re-sketch of these same robots have better them more appealing.

It's like a norm that Bandai would release the original Gundam for very Gundam toyline they have and then introduce the variant like prototype colour scheme this like this in the later part. Sometimes even as limited or exclusive.

They are few other limited version of this Gundam which I would unfold at a later stage.
Not bad... Amuro Ray comes with it too... XD
Adds on to the collector's value.

Black RX-78?...
Wow,Sugoi na...
Maybe if I have a money,
I will buy two,one for white(shiro)
and one for black(kuro)
It will be awesome...
Oh yes, they have the white version too! More precise, it's white with silver.
The shot of him looking through the shield is a great one.
Thx pal, it was a sudden idea that came to my mind.
you hv lots of old school chogokins bro but you've seem to stopped collecting them. haha! must be the price factor. However, they are really nice to be displayed as they are sturdy and looks more menacing compared to their plastic counterparts; ie robot damashii and MSIA. ^^
You are right that I'm not as hardcore that I was before. Price is a factor and my financial commitment to my family increases over the year. I no longer work just to feed myself. Hee! Hee! I have to discipline myself to go for those I like best cos there's too many temptations.
