Gundam 00 - 1/100 Scale SVMS-01O Over Flag

A 1/100 scale transformable Gunpla of the Elite Over Flag mobile suit to life by Bandai. This plastic Gundam model supplies the parts to recreate a realistic figure of this mobile suit Gundam. It is based on the Gundam anime series, specifically Gundam 00. This particular suit was piloted by Graham Aker. This Gundam Over Flag scale figure is approximately 7.5" high. I just wanted to have a feel of the kit therefore I merely snap-fit it so you see it in it rawest form.

This Gunpla is from the No-Grade collection. The plastic pieces are black except for the cockpit, which is clear. This mobile suit can transform after it is assembled. It can switch between its MS mode and its flight position. Nonetheless, I preferred the MS mode as flight mode of most MS looks awkward. These models include several different weapons.

The Over Flag SVMS-01O Over Flag, is an enhanced version of the Flag has excellent mechanical details such as realistic thrusters, landing wheels, and wing flaps. This thin black sleek design is super cool. The MS mode of these toys is in the shape of a humanoid robot. A backpack consisting of wings and thrusters is attached to its back. The fingers of this toy can be manipulated to hold its weapons. One complain is that the rifle seems too heavy for the sleek arm to hold horizontally. Plus the terrible hands that are too big to hold its accessories.

The head has two wing-like pieces that point toward its back. Polycapped joints allow these action figures to be positioned in a variety of poses and hold them. These toys have a variety of attachments including a propeller-like defense rod that can be attached to either elbow. The Over Flag models also have several weapons, such as a linear rifle that also functions as a sword. There are also two sonic plasma blades whose hilts can be stored in the toy's forearms, just like on the television series.

The flight position of the Over Flag kits resembles a fighter plane. The legs become the tail of the plane. The wings and the arms fold up into the fuselage, and the head goes down while the linear rifle is positioned in front of the face plate. The rifle forms the nose of the fighter.

Gundam 00: 1/400 Scale Ptolemaios

This is one of those carrier model kit which I had gave serious consideration of getting but forgave due to space constraint. Nonetheless, I had invested my money on a Playstation 3. Still is gave me great pleasure of reviewing Stanley's 1/400 Gundam 00 Ptolemaios Model Kits. Says on the box that it's a preprinted kit. It come with some stickers as well. Unfortunately, the sticker for the command bridge was black so I had painted chrome green over it. My apologies for the not some even surface.

According to Stanley, the model itself was easy to put together when assembly duration of less than 3 hours and holds together very well, apart for the mechanism at the nose area. With an astonishing size of 630mm in length when assembled, it's a beautiful on display and worthy purchase which probably cost 300 plus Singapore dollars by now.

1/400 Gundam 00 Ptolemaios was released in November in line with the introduction of Gundam Figure. Included in the set is miniature figures of Gundam Exia, Gundam Dynames, Gundam Kyrios (flight form), Gundam Virtue. Each figure can be stored in their own shuttle with opening/closing hatch. Each shuttle can also detached from a revolvable ring around the Ptolemaios.

In additional, the first batch that was released came with a transparent shuttle for more elusive effect. In the anime, these shuttles would become GN Arms for the Gundams. Another gimmick of the model kit is the mechanism at the carrier's nose which can open up with flip over and attachment ram for recreation of anime scene of Gundam units catapulting off.

Robot Damashii Masurao GNX-U02X

Masurao GNX-U02X was featured in the 2nd season of Gundam 00 and was piloted by Graham Aker under the disguise of Mr Bushido. I could not imagine a caucasian disguise as a Japanese just by changing attire and by putting on a mask but it always happened in the world of gundam. Anyway, Masurao GNX-U02X is not exactly my cup of tea but as Robot Damashii figure, it's extremely posable, with 30+ ball joints and swivel joints that I was surprised by those poses doing this review. I not understand Graham's sudden knowledge of ancient Japanese sword art and his fascination for samurai and ninja ... so much so Masurao was designed with a samurai helmet with a ninja body frame.

The sleek design is probably Graham's love for FLAG. Even the mecha was built for melee with beam katana (Long) and beam wakizashi (short) which he named the katana 'Howard' and wakizashi 'Daryl' in memory of his passing FLAG comrades. With the colour scheme black, it hard to tell the plastic quality, but the finishing looks great which the gloss surface made the product really photogenic. Figure comes with extra pairs of optional hands and a unique black stand with a mixture of Japanese character and kanji.
