Patlabor The Next Generation Ingram AV-98 Patrol Labor 1/48 Model Kit

Took a short break from blogging and back again with Patlabor's first live action series, like a spin-off from the original. It captured my attention some time ago when the pictures of the 1/1 scale Ingram transported around for filming. The cast of Noa Izumi, in my opinion is Kawaii! Unfortunately, I have yet to watch the new series as I couldn't an episode that's come with English subtitles.

Next Generation Ingram was given a new and more edgy look. I wanted a bigger MG 1/35 scale however Bandai stopped after this 1/48 scale. This kit is roughly the size of a 1/144 gundam when built. I did saw a huge fix-posed figure of this mecha (bigger than MG scale) during my visit to Mandarake Nakano but didn't buy because of limited luggage space.

Personally, I still prefer the simpler old Ingram design so having this is more for supporting Patlabor continuity. I got mine, pre-owned which I think the previous owner did an amazing job on the shading. The Police emblem was kept gold-plated. The weapons include  shield, electromagnetic batons, and revolver canon.

Man, this Ingram looks soooooo great !!!... I know you’re more the kind of classic stuff and that’s pretty fine, I mean, I love old stuff too, but this new version has all the basic elements of the original creation, it’s respectful with the tradition, but it has also a more modern twist... Uhmmm, maybe the work on the feet is not precisely what I would expect, but everything else is just fine and this kit, while kinda small, is quite detailed, I don’t know if it’s the equivalent of the Real Grade for Gundam, also the weathered effect in the paint job adds more realism... Nice, very nice !!!... =OOOOO

Glad that this new concept of Ingram is to your liking. I understand the importance of retaining the old flame and passing the torch. That's why it's cool that they kept the original concept yet gave it a more futuristic look.

Didnt know Bandai made another Patlabor kits outside 1/35 MG and i have to say it didn't look too shabby tho i still prefer original. Back then there was also an attempt for Patlabor Live Action which the Ingrams look even wackier!

Really look forward to the anime reboot and gotta paint one Ingram in CLAT color scheme one day.

Somehow, I know you are a fan of Patlabor too hehe.. I have the CLAT version in my collection. It's the huge scale by Yamato...

looks a bit dirty like a Bangladeshian construction labor who just finished work but even so, this kit look decent...

Perhaps, I should change the title to "Ingram, a hard day at labor" ^_^
