MG RX-178 Gundam Mk-II A.E.U.G Ver 1.0 (Built & Painted)

I never grew tired of RX-178 Gundam Mk-II A.E.U.G as I have blogged about this mecha on several occasions because it has a special place in my heart. I can recall doing a post of this kit painted in tarnish look but personally, I feel that the difficulty is higher to do a kit with clean look such as this. 

I got this fully furnished Gunpla during the beginning of Carousell and I must say that this is really the golden era of toy treasure hunting on phone app. Trust me, this platform of shopping therapy it can be so addictive. I appreciate the effort of the previous owner put in this version 1.0 Master Grade (MG) model kit, so much so I choose this on my display over the tarnish piece as well as the version 2.0. Must be the neat paint application and sturdiness of this final product. 

Like I mentioned before, this older version does have any inner frame and lost out in terms of articulation however the design remains faithful to the anime with the bulkiness and muscle. One major drawback is that the shield mounted arm has to be turned side way on posing and may look a bit awkward. As much as possible, I would always add trading figure of the pilot in my post and here is Kamille Bidan to compliment the Gunpla. MG Gundam RX-178 Mark II (Unit 3) Titans Version 1.0 (Built & Painted)

Sometimes, an old good kit that's built and painted is all I need to have in my collection. The kit is what you'd expect in terms of the level of detail, its sturdy build, range of movement and gimmicks of a 1998 line of Master Grade 1/100 scale series. Maybe just that it's not 100% proportionate and may look slightly bulky. Well, I can't really judge the design as this MS was introduced decades ago in sketchy manner. At least the dark blue Titans colour makes it look more menacing. 

The thing that I like most about Gundam RX-178 Mark II is the head gear (optional head Vulcans). Articulation is aided with poly-caps and fully posable. The version 1.0 ain't so advance in those days so only the leg area has internal detail. Opening cockpit with figure and basic compact weapons included. Furthermore, it has some simple yet very cool waterslide decals with Titans insignia.

Backstory - This Gundam has ‘RX’ name on it, RX-178, like its predecessor the first Gundam, RX-79. And if you’re wondering, Mk. stands for ‘Mark’, hence ‘Gundam Mark Two’. Developed by new faction, TITANS, which is an elite soldiers group formed by Earth Federation and Zeon remnants, there are three MS that operated. It has new technology called Moveable Frame, so it can move even without its outer armor attached. 

Two suits were successfully stolen by Camille, Quattro, and his subordinates during Quattro’s mission to spying this Gundam at Green Noah colony. Camille hatred towards TITANS made him crazy enough to hijack one of the Gundam. Seeing it as a great opportunity, Quattro and his mates help Camille escape the Colony along with the Gundams, Unit 3 piloted by Camille while the other (Unit 1) is taken by force.

MG MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam - Built & Painted

An old kit from my collection. Built and painted, not done by me but one I bought from Carousell app. The previous owner probably sold this for version 2.0. Well, it still a really nice looking kit and awesome on display.

 I think in comparison to the newer version, this Zeta probably looks less sleek. Nonetheless, the excellent workmanship and paint job by the previous owner had gave the Gunpla a great boost!

As usual, I did not transform the kit from robot mode to Wave Rider so as not to scratch the paint. Anyway, I prefer the robot mode. 

Somehow the flight haversack seems difficult to stay in place. 

A habit of mine for getting the pilot figure to display with the Gunpla. Bought a trading figure of Kamille Bidan to compliment the Gunpla. 

The Zeta Gundam is a transformable mobile suit, which can change from its normal humanoid outlook to a Waverider mode, which is more aerodynamically suited for long-distance flight or atmospheric re-entry. The shield on the left hand serves as both the nose and the heat shield of the flight unit while the legs become the main thrusters. The concept of a transformable mobile suit (TMS) is used throughout the entire series by both sides of the conflict, as Kamille frequently faced enemies with TMS and TMA while still piloting his older RX-178 Gundam Mk-II before switching to the Zeta Gundam.

MG MSN-00100 Hyaku Shiki Version 1.0

We don't see a lot of chrome coated Mobile Suits in the past and I would say Hyaku Shiki is the first for Gundam series even though at that era the anime could only illustrate it in yellow. Well, Bandai did produced both two version of Hyaku Shiki in Master Grade kit. The yellow version came with ballute system (orbit entrance gear) and the chrome coated version is what in my collection. MSN-00100 Hyaku Shiki odename: 'δ Gundam' (Delta Gundam) is a mobile suit built by Anaheim Electronics as part of the 'Zeta Project', It's more like a by product of Zeta and in 'Unicorn Gundam', we see Delta Plus as its predecessor. If you break the words 'Hyaku Shiki', 'Hyaku' basically means "hundred" like the model number MSN-00100 suggested and 'Shiki' is interpreted as 'Shiny'. The epic moment of Hyaku Shiki is really its smooth surface deflecting laser beam when shot at.

It's incorporated with the "movable frame" technology found in the RX-178 Gundam Mk-II. The Hyaku Shiki becomes the main mobile suit of Quattro Bajeena (aka Char Aznable) until the end of the Gryps Conflict. It is badly damaged following a confrontation between Char and Haman Karn of Axis Zeon at the end of the series. The suit is later recovered, repaired, and used during Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ primarily by Beecha Oleg. My collection is kind of lay back as you can see I don't have MG Hyaku Shiki version 2.0. 

Nonetheless, I'm happy to have the version since the kit had be assembled and in my opinion more than decent for display. Despite that the waist was not as small, not as proportional less sleek legs and pointy feet. Both the beam rifle and bazooka can be latched on the jet pack. It has a unique beam saber that that is translucent yellow while most other beams are pinkish red. Striking gold plated pieces have very fine sprue attachment points to make assembly easy. Just use care in removing the numerous perfectly plated gold pieces from the tree. As usual with a Bandai MG series everything moves via poly-cap joints. Leg and arm armor can be removed. It's a real attention-getter on display.
