Part 4: Beargguy Exhibition - Gunpla Expo Singapore 2011

Let's take a look ay something different from the regular Gundam model kit. Hey, I meant these finalists in HG Beargguy Competition been exhibited. Isn't it wonderful to see the regular Beargguy kits been transformed into customized designer toys with a touch of creativity. Ain't they adorable? It's a pity that they are not for sale. Well, another alternative is to adopt a limited edition HG Pink Beargguy sold exclusively @ Gunpla Expo Singapore 2011. I'm sure it will make you beary happy.

News bulletin: For those who had pre-ordered RG Freedom Gundam @ AFA 2011, the item will be ready for collection next Tuesday 22.11.2011 at Gunpla Expo Singapore 2011 sale booth. You should receive a confirmation email prior to the collection by this weekends.

Singapore Beargguy III aka Liongguy - Happy 50th Birthday Singapore

We insert this immediate bulletin in celebration of Singapore 50th Happy Birthday with this customised HG Beargguy III by my friend, Stanley Lim, who called this the 'Liongguy'. An overwhelming patriotic atmosphere while our nation celebrates 'Majulah Singapura Our Golden Jubilee'. Stanley explained that when he attended 'Hong Kong Gundam Dock 2015', upon seeing HGBF 1/144 Beargguy III [SAN] Ver.囍, he asked himself why couldn't we have something as cute, yet symbolic and unique to Singapore? This simple thought eventually gave birth to HGBF 'Liongguy'! Furs were added to convert the bear to lion as Singapore is known as 'Lion City' and lion had been many mascots to past Singapore campaigns such as 'Singa the Courtesy Lion'. 'Liongguy' took on the colours of our national flag, red symbolises "universal brotherhood and equality of man" and white, "pervading and everlasting purity and virtue". Stanley had cleverly used the tattoos from SG Funpack (distributed to Singaporean's homehold) as decals on 'Liongguy'. I felt proud and honored that Stanley looked for me to have Liongguy's photo taken. Even the props you see were contents from SG Funpack.

Pink Beargguy is backed for the second year as Gunpla Expo exclusive due to demand

The barricades surrounding the event venue were removed 10 minutes earlier for anxious Gunpla fans going full throttle (Gundam context: Trans-AM). This year, there is no time restriction to public so VIPs, invitees and Gunpla fans could mingle and witness the official opening. Successful forth year of Gunpla Expo Singapore and for the first time, the event was held at NEX Shopping Mall (Serangoon MRT station).

The scale is comparable to past years and what makes this year event looked grand is the ceiling lightings display panel. The event was launched with citations by director of Shengtai Toys, Mr Ee Chian Tan which was followed by a group photo-taking of VIPs from Isetan. Gundam Image Girls (GIG) were then invited on stage to showcase some of Gunpla Expo 2012 exclusive items. Thereafter, there was an open invitation to anyone who wishes to take a pic with the GIG.

Anime Festival Asia AFA 2015 Coverage

A final event coverage before the year ends and once again the long running Anime Festival Asia AFA. I noticed his year AFA has more sale booths especially those table booths where youngsters could exercise their entrepreneurship. On the other hand, I felt that the exhibition portion had been scaled down. The exhibition booth by Bandai, Banpresto (Ichiban Kuji), Good Smile were the main ones and they were areas I took most of my pics from. Kotobukiya only displayed their 'Frame Arms Girls' kits which I expected more from them with at least more display or sale booth. How I wished VOLKS return again to AFA this year cos they booth was awesome the last time : (

Bandai's Gunpla display has got adorable customised Beargguy of Gundam from various series. I especially like the display of Bandai's Star Wars model kits as they were rather nicely built and introduced at the right time with the movie fever just around the corner. I managed to see Megahouse's released Tharsis from the anime 'Aldnoah Zero' on display but unfortunately the price was beyond my budget. I will be interested to watch One-Punch- Man, an unexpected protagonist that came bald. I find Banpresto's Dragonball Z real figure painted manga style.

ps: Apologises for no cosplay coverage this year.
