Phua Chu Kang played by Gurmit Singh was aired in 1997 on MediaCorp TV Channel 5 as a comedy sitcom. The character wins the hearts of many for his uncle perm hairstyle, the mole on his cheek and of course the yellow boots. Phua Chu Kang has since been an icon to Singaporean and still is today singing for Health Promotion Board to urge citizens to take Covid-19 vaccination, practise good hygiene and maintain safe distancing.
