Macross Delta 1/72 VF-31S Siegfried (Arad Molders) + Mecha Colle + Mikumo Guynemer Figure

Some photo edits with handphone app 'PicsArt'

Started late on 'Macross Delta' and I feel that it succeeded in bringing back memories of the first 'Super Dimensional Fortress Macross' with scenes of VF-1 in the first few episodes to retain the old guards. To attract new fans, Macross has incorporated the idea of anime idol in the form of galaxy singing diva's style as idol group 'Walküre', carrying on from 'Macross Frontier'. Somehow I feel that Macross Delta didn't match the height of 'Macross Frontier'. IMHO, I still like the anime as a whole.

I got these trio as a set and they make perfect theme from diva to valkyrie. The Arad Molders' custom VF-31S Siegfried from 'Macross Delta' is the model kit in 1/72 scale. It can transform between all three forms - fighter, battroid and gerwalk. I have chosen VF-31S primarily for the leader class antennas on the head. I have display the kit in robot (battroid) mode as model kit tends to be fragile unlike the toy. The kit is partly painted with an overall matte top coat. The model required quite an extensive use of decals though. I cool gimmick is that the rifle can be mounted on the right shoulder like a cannon.

I'm able to present the fighter (plane) mode is a miniature 'Mecha Colle' kit. This way, you can see the insignia of Arad Molders on top of the plane. Very small kit which is almost unnoticed when place together with the 1/72 valkyrie and Mikumo Figure. Still pretty nice on close up with stickers and panel lines applied. Arad Molders, the squad leader and pilot of VF-31S, is assigned to protect the lead vocalist of Walküre, Mikumo Guynemer. My figure of Mikumo is the more budget SQ Quality Banpresto's UFO catcher prize figure. Nonetheless, I fancy Mikumo in your Walküre combat attire with those speakers on the dress with her long flowing violet hair with pastel blue dye. Checkout the Walküre hand sign in the posing. Your will be deculture!

This is a great, great combo indeed, the transformable model kit is the star, in my humble opinion, due to its level of detail, accuracy, the articulation and transformation ability; of course all these gimmick come with a cost and I don’t mean only the price tag, but the extra work if you want to add paint and finishes to a kit like this...

The mini-kit in flight mode is amazing and a very convenient complement (you don’t want to transform the big kit too much or you will ruin it) and the female character statue doesn’t disappoint at all, Banpresto always offer good value for your money !!!... =D

Well said that a lot of efforts put in from scratch from mecha design to toy technicality in transformation that remains faithful. I feel that model kit ain’t suitable for repetitive transformation and I prefer to stick to a mode, in this case, battroid mode. The small kit on the plane mode like u mentioned served a good reference in flight mode. The character figure is very my style, having her to compliment the mecha.

Same as you, i chose Arad's too due to my leader-type fetish. I have the mechacolle and GiMix 1/144 versions, PO-ed the DX version, so just waiting for release and shipping as per in my blog.
