Singapore Gunpla Expo 2016 & GBWC Entries

Gunpla Expo is back this year at same venue, Ngee Ann City Takashimaya. Not as grand as last year when we celebrated SG50 nonetheless the organisers still put up a good event display. Here's the layout of at the event hall.

This year's Gunpla Expo statue is a scale-up Real Grade RX-78-2 Gundam surrounded by Gunpla materials such as colour spray, paint, Gundam markers, cutter and twister. A human-sized, Beargguy III (san) Version Double Happiness brought from Hong Kong's Gunpla Expo, provided a good selfie booth for all.

Another event attraction is the 'Gardens by the Bay' diorama with 1/60 scale - SG50 Gundam, Unicorn Gundam and Banshee standing in. I heard the landscape diorama will be shifted to be display at the garden, after this event. Check out those lighted up 'The Supertree Grove'.

One section dedicated to Sunrise latest Gundam T.V series, also available on Youtube 'Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans'. I support the idea of free viewing make available to reach out more fans worldwide. I'm sure fans will reciprocate through buying Gunpla!

Gundam apparels Strict-G selling @ Singapore Gunpla Expo 2016. The jackets are very cool but they probably burn the pockets ..^_^.. There are also booths of Gundam video games and card games which I didn't take pic of.

I like the simplicity of HG 1/144 Gundam The Origin MSD Series Gundam [Local Type], display at Singapore Gunpla Expo 2016. GBWC is definitely the reason Gunpla fans flopped to the event. As usual, I had only took pics of those entries that caught my attention. Wish my friend Wilson aka DarkBlitz scores well with this entry that took him two years in the making. Title: MG 1/100 RX-0 Full Strike Unicorn Gundam. Really huge and impressive.

Among the entries for the GBWC, one was particularly interesting for me, the one below the "Majestic Emperor Zaku"... As you already know, the mechas with skulls are some of my favorites and such entry features a pair of prominent skulls, one in the upper chest and the other right above the helmet... Moreover, the color scheme was a perfect choice, there is great contrast between the shades of gray and the brilliant primary colors (yellow, red and blue), not to mention the contrast between the slightly glossy and matte surfaces... The whole thing stands out because all those elements work together really, really good; in my humble opinion, it doesn’t look excessive or motley, but it has the right dose of "badassness" you should expect from a mecha-pirate !!!... =OOOOO

You definitely have your unique taste of choice. I too caught up with the big entries. Hehe.. Though I like the Zaku emperor in terms of the presentation. I don't have a lot of comments on the Crossbone Gundam, however it surely to good enough to catch the attention to take a pic of it since I didn't spend too long at this year's Gunpla EXPO.
