1/72 scale F-14A Tomcat by Forces of Valor

The workhorse of the U.S Naval Carrier Air Group for the past 20 decades until its day of decommission. The Grumman F-14A Tomcat has awesome firepower, speed and maneuverability. Tomcat was the solution of US naval fleet against cruise missiles from adversaries. Till date, Tomcat remains my favourite reality fighter jet after having watched 'Top Gun'. I believed the plane has a great influence on the design of Macross VF-1 valkyrie, especially those sweeping wings. The swept wing design enables the F-14A Tomcat to jump from close-in aerial combat to Supersonic speed in a matter of seconds.

The F-14A Tomcat is equipped with the AWG-9 weapons control systems that enables the fighter to track and lock up 24 separate targets up to 103 miles away. Its long range radar and Phoenix missiles makes Tomcat an excellent interceptor. Other armaments like Sidewinder and and Heat Seeker missile systems make the F-14A Tomcat the superior air-to-air combat. Much like the 'Afterburner' game I used to play on SEGA console and arcade. So they say good things come in pair like F-14A Tomcat's two General Electric F-110-GE-400 turbofan engines with afterburners. Another iconic feature of the F-14A Tomcat is the double crews operator whereby besides the pilot, the second air flight officer, also known as Weapon Systems Officers, takes charge of weapon systems and all other air operations to lighten the load of pilot.

Any Macross or Robotech fans will find resemblance between Roy Focker's VF-1S and VF-84 Jolly Rogers, in terms of the white/yellow colour scheme and skull cross bone insignia on tail marking. The markings of Roy Focker's VF-1S Valkyrie (which was itself inspired by the F-14 Tomcat) in The Super Dimension Fortress Macross is obviously inspired by the squadron insignia of VF-84, and his "Skull Squadron" is considered the equivalent of VF-84. I have placed both 1/72 scale VF-1S and F-14A Tomcat whereby Tomcat emerge to be a much bigger plane, probably comparable to VF-0 for size. In 1988, Jolly Rogers VF-84 squadron was deployed to aircraft carrier 'Theodore Roosevelt' which the toy has the name clearly printed so is the name of the pilots below cockpit. Plenty of die-cast used in the toy. Nice to have have penal lines drawn however it seems too much too thick in this case.

The war machines, either we want it or not, are usual inspiration for some of the greatest icons of our popular culture... War seems to be a frequent topic in different media like: documentaries, movies, animated series, comics and definitely is the core of the plot in Macross series... It’s nice to see the actual fighter jet that inspired the classic VF-1S, it talks about the admiration that the U.S. military equipment arouse among enthusiast around the world... Oh and Forces of Valor is a familiar brand for me, by the way !!!... =D

I guess weapon of necessary evil is needed since the dawn of mankind. Ironically, technology and invention is at peak during times of war. Undeniably, a lot of inventions initially manned for war were later switched over for commercial purposes. F-14 is an awesome plane in design for a specific purpose and few planes come as iconic as this.

No bro... It comes fully built and painted. It's like a heavily die-cast toy.

Just managed to watch the trailer and a bit here and there on YouTube. Wanted to wait for the entire season to complete then jump on the wagon.
