I'm always on a lookout for horse figures suitable as steed for some of my figurines and my prayer's were answered while shopping @ Tanglin Mall. I came across this toy shop 'The Better Toy Store' and found this suitable figure. Later to my surprise after browsing through the catalogue of Papo figures, which the friendly store assistant had given me, I realised this is a figure under Personnages Historiques (Historicals) tagged 39805 as Cheval de Cesar. It was manned to be Caesar's horse.
A little history of Papo... is a French designer/manufacturer with more than 15 years in experienced, specialised in a wide range of figurines right from mammals, dinosaur, galactic adventure to knight fantasy. To my knowledge, only 'The Better Toy Store' take in these figures and they do have another outlet at Ngee Ann City.
I especially choose this day to post this review because today is the first day of Chinese New Year and this year is the year of the horse. Coincidentally, I'm born in the year of horse Zodiac so it makes today's post extra meaningful.
In my opinion, this horse figurine is quite well sculpt and possessed the soul of a mightiness to its rider. The color is also close to the famous 'Red Hare' mentioned in 'Romance of Three Kingdoms'. Last but not least, an ideal size for my Lu Bu figure from Shin Sangokumusou 2 Trading Figure series. The two figures is now a perfect match in heaven. Heehee...
ps: Wishing all pink of health and enjoy prosperity this CNY

this figure reminds me of those manufactured by Schleich (yeah, the same of the Smurfs !!!), they have many lines including horses with or without riders and well, both are european brands (Papo from France, while Schleich from Germany)... animals like the horse, are a serious challenge when it comes to create a figure and this one complements very well your legendary rider... =)
Congrats on the pairing and they do look very well together. They are well designed and beautifully painted.
My son got me something similar (not from this designer) of a water dragon. It was also nicely detailed and I have it out in my living room guarding my cd/radio player.
agree bro..this horse is perfect match with your figurine..

You sure know a lot of toy manufacturers. It's another lesson learned. Seems like the Europeans has more passion of making toys close to nature.

I'm thrilled that the fusion of East meets West figurine rocks! Great to know that your son got a guardian dragon for your electronic device. Go get some knights for more knight fantasy fun. hehe...
