Inside hangar and also a preview to World Smallest Transformable Macross
I was browsing through eBay recently and this MISB Robotech Mac II which is originally known as Destroid Monster in Macross anime, caught my attention. The seller is from U.K and he's really quoted low shipping cost as well as low starting bid price. Genuine honest seller is nicest to deal with!
My curiosity for this die-cast Mac II pushes to break the seal to see what’s inside. Like most toys made in the past, the toy is well protected by styrofoam tray. There ain't other accessories beside having instruction manual and sticker sheet. The main body and legs are mostly metal so the toy is rather sturdy. The points of articulation are only at the legs and arm cannons. Its dull green gives it an old skool military armoured tank feel.
What a rare and very hard to find Mac II Monster from Robotech! Released in 1992, this toy with die-cast metal and plastic is made by Harmony Gold. This Destroid is diecast and stands 4 inches tall and is about 7 inches long measuring the end of the canons to the body. It is small but pretty heavy.

That is a sweet find. The closest thing I have to it is a pencil sharpener with the figure on top of it.
I always was impressed by the 4 huge guns and wonder how the damn thing didn't fall over - LOL
hehehe... this is better !!! it’s always a pleasure to see colleague rarities... definitely the world of toys is wide & wild & when u feel that u hav seen all u hav to see, then comes a fellow to share a piece of his/her happyness represented in a toy... this one is a nice vintage toy, but why u didn’t use the stickers ??? they look nice as well, but they would look better ON the toy... =/
Its a brick more inanely powerful and tougher than PG 00 and MC Megatron itself. And Green pretty realistic, plus the nifty little details.
I think they will be selling a Robot Damashii version of this. And when they do, I know I will be getting one.
No other colour differentiation and decals on this figure?
love the classic feel to this toy. nice find, dude. keep 'em coming. jealous mode. hohohoho
congrats bro. You haven't applied the stickers yet?

I recently just managed to get the Destroid Monster on sharpner. It's very rare and hard to get that too!

There is really too many toys in this world to cater to liking of many.

You have lotz of faith in this one! Well! Seems like Gaiking is still the most powerful in most 'Super Robot Wars'

Not too sure about any Damamshii version but cameacross news recently that Bandai is making a DX version of Konig Monster. It won't come cheap definitely.

The takatoku version of this toy is of mud color and come with different stickers. I happened to buy that recently and would blog about it soon.

I'm also jealous of some of toy 12" you are having, especially having to start collecting a new range of toy. Hee! Hee!

Won't be applying the sticker bro. My wife already wrapped up the box with plastic.
I think I saw both Bandai DX & Robot Damashii prototype versions before.
The Robot Damashii version was on display at last year Robot Damashii Sutherland Sieg - Tokyo Toy Show 2009.
However, I know true fans will get the DX version for sure. Another $200+ USD item. So sad....
Thx for the heads up bro! Something to look forward to!
If anyone is interested I am selling my copy of the Harmony Gold Mac II on the UK ebay site over the next few days (late November 2010). Boxed and unused but not as nice as this one as the damp has got in and there is some surface powdering - it will require a minor makeover to look as nice....
I hope you Mac II gets a good bidding. It will be a great collectible to Robotech/Macross fans.
