Macross Vending Machine DX was bought from a collector on Macrossworld.com. Box is in decent condition, but has a good amount of shelf ware. It's definitely a novelty item that you won't see everyday especially when Takatoku, the maker had already got busted. Even from the 80s, this item is still mint in the box and it gives me a 100% chance to win Macross figurines still in capsules. Ha! Ha!
I would say it's a miniature capsule machine manned for display on table top. It standing around 15cm with cute little capsules containing rubber Macross figurines. The box also comes with three other larger rubber Macross figurines (you see in the last 2 pics). This toy gives me an idea of getting a bigger capsule machine for my kids to play with.

So far, this is the only design I come across. I doubt there is any other design.
Never seen a vending machine toy before which you get toys out of only sweets.

I would say Macross merchandises are more common these days. I remember Macross toyline was in iceage before Bandai started reissuing & new players like Yamato & Toynami enter the liege.
Market now is flooded with Macross merchandises till I can't get up. Hee! Hee!
