Chogokin 1/144 scale Hyaku Shiki

This is a repost article of what I had done when this blog just started. It was only recently before I sold it off, I felt a strong attachment to it and this strong sentiment pushes me to retake pics of the toy and all the accessories that came with it. The reason for selling was that after years of display in my cabinet, the chrome on the toy had oxidized, with noticeable black patches you see in some of the pics at close-up.

This chogokin of Hyaku Shiki MSN-00100 was scale at 1/144, with amazing accessories from basic beam weapons to Mega Bazooka Launcher. An awesome and huge armament that exceeded the height of its MS operator. Just one shot from this Mega Bazooka Launcher could sink a space cruiser. This is what I call solid firepower!

The beam rifle and Clay Bazooka can be attached to the backpack. Hyaku Shiki also has its unique coloured yellow beam saber. The articulation of this toy is top-notch, posing at different poses and even kneeing stances could be done at ease.

The pilot is Lt Quattro Bajeena (Char Aznable disguise). Char or Quattro may not have powerful new-type abilities, but he is formidable when it comes to piloting skills and of course his wits on playing with politics.

I remember selling it at a low price of around 20 because of the condition. It's now in the hands of a fellow collector friend.

I always thought this was an odd Gundam as it was gold and had the high 'should pads'. It is also a very unique design from what we usually see with the Gundams.

Sorry that you sold it off, but it is good to know that it is in the hands of a fellow collector.

Well, high shoulder pad was a trend in the 80s. I remember seeing my mum wearing clothings with shoulder pad when I was a kid. Ha! Ha! Retro isn't it. You can say that Hyaku Shiki design is pretty unique. Kind of oriental or Japanese looking. If I recall correctly, this MS is assembled using exceeded parts of Zeta. The chrome helps to deflect laser beam in the anime. What an idea!!

The toy is in good hands and don't worried but me as well as cos I had gotten the MG kit of Hyaku Shiki and thanx to a friends, I even have Quattro figure.

you sounded very nostalgic here and i do understand because this is a great MS and looks awesome as a chogokin... i love the cover boxart !!!... i guess i should expect the same fate for my Shiranui Akatsuki model kit as time goes by, since it has the same finishing... =(

Ha! Ha! It's good to look back as we progress. Hyaku Shiki is a great sidekick type of MS and certainly my cup of tea in terms of design. I used to have Shiranui Akatsuki as well but under GFF series. I had also took pics of it before selling off. Should blog about it other time. Well nothing last never but good enough to shine and sparkle in its glory days.

It's close to a Gundam but not there yet. But certainly the first gold MS that appeared on Gundam anime series.

My first experience in getting to know the Hyaku Shiki was back in the days playing a PS1 SRW game.

I told my friend I just got this robot with the words "Hundred-Style" in Chinese characters and a pilot with ridiculous sun glasses and his reaction was "How dare you speak such of Char!"

Well, now that I have enlightened myself with more knowledge of Gundam I understand his passionate reaction. Haha

Ha! Ha! You were on the right track until the guy with the ridiculous sunglasses. It's just a way to protect his identity.

I used to play SRW a lot but never determined enough to complete a single. My determination comes when playing SD Gundam Generation.

GFF or Chogokin will be good for you since you do less of Gunpla nowadays. The chrome that reflect laser beam is really one of a kind in Gundam.
