EVA-02 Production Model Xebec Kaiyodo

A stylish image of EVA-02 figure manufactured by Kaiyodo XEBEC Toys, sculpted by Katsuhisa Yamaguchi in addition of new paint scheme of devilish sizzling red and fiery orange to heat up Asuka Langley's favourite giant robot. Weathering effects or shadings along those intricate trim lines had as added more contours and realistic feel.

The 8" (taller if not for the hunch) Xebec toy line by Kaiyodo seems like the predecessor of Revoltech in a bigger scale (which is a better size IMHO), pay more attention on the sculpt and vivid paint job in particular. It's also one of those few Neon Evangelion figures that come in such over-sized blister card (Probably a box would be more appropriate). Kaiyodo certainly put smiles on those having this figure with an incredible range of arsenal from machine gun, magnum to melee weapon like the samurai sword and progressive knife (which resemble a pen knife). Optional hands and plug cable were included as well.

One of the drawbacks in would be the limitation in posing due to having only 15 points of articulation. The pose is mainly restricted to wide legs apart stances though kneeling poses are possible. Another flaw would be the figure's tendency of falling forward, blaming the unbalance center of gravity. Nevertheless, it's a great figure and the details kind of make up for it.

very interesting figure and one i have not seen so far !!!... is like a time capsule, from the card it looked promising for different poses and i thought at first sight is was a Revoltech with and odd presentation, until i read your review... i’m not pretty convinced by the shaded in the paint job and the kinda orange color scheme (i still prefer the solid red of the anime), but the assortment of accessories is impressive !!!... =)

Looks like I got you with this piece, goes to say I'm always blogging past season toys. hehe... I had to discard the card cos it's taking up too much space and yes, regarding the odd presentation, the limited articulation only allowed a few predefined poses. it should be able to do a few more signature poses which I had missed out. Apologies on that. Katsuhisa Yamaguchi probably preferred a brighter EVA-02. Maybe some of the line joints on the arms may look a bit awkward however the muscle on the forearm looks defined and the wordings of arms are sharp. I sure won't mind the shading. I'm I being too defensive. Lol...

nice review, the number of accessories is amazing especially since this is the first time I seen an entry plug included in an eva toy, might be common tho. I like the weathered look with the shading, it almost looks human with all the muscle lines haha. Whats the price these days for this figure?

This toy line has plenty of accessories and every unit has their own unique accessories without repetition. I think most of more recent EVA toys would have the entry plug as optional parts but not all might be as well made as this. I can luv you have an eye for the weathered and shading. I don't see Exbec going around often in SG, maybe they are more for western market. I got mine for ard S$40 and I would most like sell it off cos I had the model kit of Unit 02.
