Group pic of Evangelion Unit 01, 02 and 03
LMHG is the abbreviation of 'Limited Model High Grade' model kit. Released by Bandai in 1996 of Test Type "Neon Genesis Evangelion". From Bandai model kit of the bright red Eva unit used by Asuka Langley Sohryu, a 14 year old fictional character, one of the female main characters. Asuka is designated as the Second Child ("Second Children" in the original Japanese versions) of the Evangelion Project and pilot of the Evangelion Unit-02.
Even in HG, this kit is kind of tall and stand approximately 15" (25cm) as tall as most 1/100 scale gundams.
A orangish rubber like sleeve encapsulates the joints in the forearms producing the iconic powered suit appearance of the Eva units. Iconic accessories include removable entry plug, umbilical chord, sniper rifle, progressive knives, pallet rifle, Lance of Longinius, handgun, Smash Hawk (axe), and giant shield. Unit 02 sure looks best with the penknife looking progressive knife. The entry hatch do open exposing the removable pilot's entry plug. The kit requires plenty of touch-up, it needs to be painted to look the best and so I bought myself a built and painted fully preowned kit. Remarkable paint job by the previous owner. Cheers!
The head can turn 360 but does look down/up though the neck does have a very organic feel to its movement due to the collar and torso which bend with a hunch. Some letdowns are the bending of the elbow (restricted by rubber) as I'm afraid of breaking it ever though they do bend at an angle of 90 degrees and balancing the slender kit. The sleek body isn't some well balance and it may easy fall. The figure has limited, yet impressive posability The feet are kind of loose and tends to fall out. Overall this is a good kit and as a fan of Evangelion this kit actually lives up to the show quite well.
The EVA 02 is probably the most overlooked unit in Evangelion series and while its armor as a whole is basically the same of the other units, it has the most alien-ish head of all... Also its pilot, Asuka, who seemed quite capable and self-confident at the beginning, was just overwhelmed during combat, becoming a sort of burden for the young team of children... Maybe these aspects played a negative role in the remembrance of this otherwise great unit, who know ???... =OOOOO
ReplyDeleteThree of them look good when displaying them side by side...

ReplyDeleteSomehow true EVA Unit 02 isn't given much attention despite the bright red colour. The same fate goes for the pilot as well. Maybe Rei's popularity has overshadowed the rest of the casts. Well, this is a great unit and yeah I not biased against the unit.

ReplyDeleteYeah bro! It's the spirit of collect'em all.
The coloring still got tone and shades. Those are originally painted like that or you touch up?

ReplyDeleteYou have very good eye bro, this is fully painted kit to make to boost the look of a very old kit.
They were released in 1996 and they're about 10" tall which is way taller than the average Master Grade Gundam.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the additional info and I have updated the post.
