After taking pics of Mospeada IMENs, it gives me the adrenaline to take more pics of my Mospeada related toys. Let me introduce you to the vintage cyclone bike that was manufactured by Gakken in 1988.
Let me also bring you back to the history of toy making in Singapore. Believe it or not! This toy is made in Singapore. If I am not mistaken, there used to have a toy factory along Lorong 6 Toa Payoh .
This toy stands about 11" (slightly shorter that Barbie doll). Mine is in condition C8, MIB with sticker unapplied. There is also the Japanese version of this cyclone bike and unfortunately I don't have it.
Taking into consideration of the complexity of transformation, I don't thing this toy was catered for young children. I remember when I was at a very young age, my dad had bought a Cyclone Bike for me when we visited Isetan Parkway Parade. Obviously the cyclone bike didn't survive in my hands shortly after it was taken out from box. I was left only with the figure. Sigh...I seriously can't transform it toy without referring to the instruction manual and I probably took me 20 minutes to figure it out.

Love the details on the armor and nice size. I guess this was the limited edition "blind" version (no painted eyes).
ReplyDeleteNice to see you found it and even more surprised it was made in Singapore. I never knew they had toy factories there - nice history.
Maybe Gakken wanted to smoke us with the visor on. Hee! Hee! Like Macau, Singapore used to have toy factories when labour cost was much affordable. I used to have RC car that was made in Singapore too when I was a kid. It's like walking down memory lane.
ReplyDeletepal, this toy is amazing & even without the stickers looks pretty complex, with lot of details, sturdy & with an interesting colour scheme... i remember my friend/provider showed me one of those Mospeada, probably of Toynami, i dun remember so well... it was red & beautiful, at least i’m pretty sure of that, but i had to let it go...
ReplyDeleteI'm also very impressed that a creative toy like this was produced some many years back. The red cyclone you see is most probably 'Houquet et Rose'. Sad to say that there ain't any mass produce red cyclone bike by Toynami/ Beagle after they realised the produced cost of the latest & finest Scott Bernard cyclone bike out-weight the profit.
ReplyDelete"Made in Singapore", Metal composite, and no fireing missiles, F**king Sweet! Though wondering why they stoped with they toy factory, you earn big money on those industries.
ReplyDeleteSince the factory already seized operation, I don't foresee the this toy to be able to reissue. Well, I managed to get the Beagle version as well and it seems very impressive. Will soon open the toy. Hee! Hee!
ReplyDeleteAnother awesome GEM! There was a time when toys were made in Hongkong and that is around that time some toys were made in Singapore. Apparently I think the labor cost was high so there have seized. Feel so tempted to draw the eyes for you of that figure. LOL
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely an excellent recap to my childhood toy. Feels good to be able to have it again. It's also to proof of toy manufacturing industrial existence in Singapore in the past.
ReplyDeletealways LOVE ur toys with this vintage looks to it. super cool dude.
ReplyDeleteThx pal, I'm very fond of vintage toys I hope to show more of them bit by bit.
ReplyDeleteGreat review on this classic toy :)
ReplyDeleteThx bro, this is the type of toy that will take more time and effort to post. I'm delighted that you guys like it.
ReplyDeleteWow made in SG! Thats really rare man!
ReplyDeleteAnd that is an awesome stop motion commercial!!! Definitely award winning!
Just like us - Made in Singapore! Kids will be attracted by the commercial like this those days. Ha! Ha!
ReplyDeleteI'd always wanted to get this figure, but never got around to it... and probably never would. Since I am trying to concentrate on Gundam only... although I might fail again soon.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to stay focus on the thing you like best and Gundam is an excellent choice.
