MG 1/100 Gundam RX-78-2 Ver. One Year War O.Y.W Animation Color

I bought a few sets of MG RX-78-2 Gundam Version OYW for the purpose of modifying them to different GM but managed to keep the classic anime colour version of this Gundam as a tribute to the legendary Amuro Ray. In fact, I bought the EFSF stand and have different version of Amuro's PVC trading figures and have them all displayed in an acrylic box. It's now a mini Amuro's shrine! Like many of the other MG, this Gunpla featured an exoskeleton frame and inner mechanism, which I had sprayed some silver paint on.

The shoulder, elbow and kneel hyper extended joints of this kit were specially designed to maximum articulation. All signature weaponry like the beam rifle, hyper bazooka, the unique chain hammer, beam sabers and shield were included. One of the beam sabers was specially bend as an effect part to emphasize Gundam swinging action of the beam saber. I didn't use the unpainted miniature pilot figure of Amuro Ray since I'm fond using trading figures. A special set of white base stickers and dry transferred decals were also thrown in. If you had gotten the anniversary edition, addition transparent parts were included for those who like seeing through the armour and looking at the mechanic within.

  1. the old and classic RX-78 has seen much love by Bandai and more versions seem to sprout every now and then... this OYW certainly stands out by its improved articulation (at first sight, i thought it was like my version KA, but it’s better !!!)... it looks great with all those decals, the extra touches you put here and there, the special E.S.F.F. base and the trading figures inside the acrylic case (pretty much like the display for my Gundams here, HEHE) !!!... =D

Yeah pal! We never had enough of this first and classic Gundam, always inteoduced in slight makeovers. Cool to know that both you and I like our display accompanied by trading figures. Kind of setting a theme to the display isn't it ^_^

Bro, you are just the kind of guy who likes anything revolving Gundam! I'm more of an old school fellow who stick to more classic MS and stayed away from overkill looking MS with lots of weaponry these days ^_^

No worries.. Stanley is a trusted friend and will house it properly. Besides, I gotten myself a fully painted version 2.0 RX-78-2 Gundam, bought from a pro modeler.
