MG Zaku II Version 2.0

There is certain cuteness in mono-eye which somehow caught my attention to do this kit. This model is surely quite different as most of the time I deal with Gundam or GM kits. It was quite a challenge but pleasure experience. I would say the revamped version had taken away many of those ugly seam lines that used run across the kit from front view especially on the legs.

Excellent engineering and very unique to the mecha design are those springy type power cable tubes running around Zaku II. One other very cool feature with this kit is that the mono-eye would follow at a nice angle as the head turned.

The inner frame construction added flexibility for more action poses right to kneeling and extended rotation even applied to the shoulder spike ball and shield, thanx to more clip-on and ball joints. There are much improvement on the hand/fist as the four fingers have knuckle-joint for better grip and realism.

MG Zaku II version 2.0 comes with a full load of armament from machine gun, bazooka, heat hawk and a pair of three-tube missile pods (strapped to the legs). Depending on how you want this MS to look, optional part types of blade antennas are thoughtfully included if you plan on either building a Zaku II commander or stripped right down to the most basic grunt design F, J and S type Zaku of your choice.

The colour of the mold was well match so don't need to worry about painting. All I did was just panel line and top coat with matte surfacer. It did use both Bandai as well as third party water-slide decals. Recently, I had also started using rounded len stickers on weapon scope or even be used for the eye.

  1. very, very nice kit, pal !!!... the Zaku II was a serious improvement regarding the original mobile suit, in all aspects and i would say that the proportion is the most evident... your work on the model is very neat, panel lines and matte coat, along with the additional decals, make a lot of difference in the overall look of the piece... Zeon is growing in my affections, for sure !!!... =)

I'm pretty lazy on Gunpla, so normal just top coat them. At times, I even buy painted one from others to display. Like the matte effect as it removed the glossy plastic look and feel. The texture also better thereafter. Thank you for the kind comment pal. Sieg Zeon!

Thank you for the kind words bro! I think the MG version 2 itself is already a fantastic kit. Just a little touch up the Gunpla would shine and glow. Indeed, the mixture decals gave it more character of its own. It's proven that there are more monoeye fans over visor type though I belonged to the visor clan
