Gundam Fair @ VivoCity 28th May to 12th July

Just a short news flash for local Gunpla fans that there is Gundam Fair going on at Toy'sR'Us VivoCity. I was informed by Leon that our joint effort Mega Size Gundam would likely be exhibited there so I'm keeping my fingers closed. I guess I will drop by later since I took leave for today.

Field report on 01/06/2010 @ 1400hrs:
Decided to continue on the same post to make things easy. I couldn't find the Mega Size Gundam at the venue (update from Leon that it would be displayed probably this coming Friday due to space constraint at the moment) and the fair in mainly on the sale of Gunpla rather than showcasing built kits.

Interesting to see quite a number of new releases and limited item sold at the fair. The discount is genuine and make you go on impulse buying.

Pixar Exhibition @ Science Centre

Pixar is celebrating its 20 years of success and it has come to Singapore for exhibition at Science Centre. I had brought my family to Science Centre on Friday because I managed to get free ticket to but we did not enter the Pixar exhibition hall because a single ticket for children is an additional S$15. In conjuncture with Pixar exhibition, Takashimaya had set up booth selling a lot of Pixar merchandises outside Pixar exhibition hall and I managed to snaps some pics.

Visit to 2nd Toy Carnival

It was a long wait of more than an hour before I was able to find a carpark lot at Expo this evening. A long car queue was formed even before Expo Drive and I'm glad my wife was around to accompany me before boredom sets in. The huge crowd was not drawn by 'Toy Carnival' but due to several events going on at the same time on this public holiday.

When I entered the event hall, I could not help feeling disappointment seeing 'Toy Carnival' situated at one small corner like a different entity. It was very different from what I expected and I felt that this year 'Toy Carnival' was least focused. There were figurines of Marvel/DC on sale and Zoids on discount. But, there wasn't any real deal for me or perhaps I arrived late.

The comforting thing was that I managed to meet up friends and comrades who shares the same hobbies like Desmond, Lai and Calvin. I had some good chats with them till the event closed for the day. My apologises for not taking much pics at the venue.

2nd Toy Carnival Updates!

See you there! (Silly shot my wife made me do during our last visit to Toy 'R' Us! Ha! Ha!)

Toy Carnival Singapore 2010 is just tomorrow and here's the latest update on the exclusives that you may want to look out for. Latest change of plan would be I will be going tomorrow evening instead around 6.00pm and I'm sure to give Desmond a call and maybe have a small chat. I hope he won't be too busy helping out his friend at the store.

Random Power Rangers & Kamen Riders Figures

Thanx to iq40 , I now know this is Kamen Rider Leangle from Kamen Rider Blade. In the show, he's supposed to be the strongest rider but his alter ego, Mutsuki Kamijou is actually a very weak-willed person (at the beginning). The Ace card that gave him the power to "henshin" (transform) always used this weakness to possess him and try to destroy the other riders.

Thanx to Evaritus Lau , I now know this is Kamen Rider Kabuto, The Bee.

I found these figurines discarded opposite my block and so I brought them home as toys for my kids. After cleaning and disinfection, the figurines still look pretty decent despite their missing weapons. I'm out of touch on Power Rangers having only watched the very first with English casts. As for Kamen Riders, I'm totally out of league! Maybe you guys could enlighten me on these characters' background? Thanx in advance!

IMEN Robotech/Macross

The Japanese often convert anime characters to those sweetie cute figurines like SD version or Nendoroid. I guess to the westerner, the way of converting characters from cartoon, movie and comic into cute figurines will be turning them to IMEN.

Call them ugly or not, these Macross/Robotech IMEN by Toynami are adorable in their own ways. They ain't very tall, only standing approximately 2". Each card comes in a pair and if complete, you will have characters from Macross/Robotech pairing up with their IMEN battroid.

Each IMEN has magnet fixed to the base of their feet that helps the figurine stands firmly with the support of metallic coin. One side of the coin has IMEN logo and when flipped over, it's Robotech logo.
