1/8 Scale Princess Waltz Iris イーリス Figure

There are some toys that I would just jump on the wagon buying it before knowing their background because they look so appealing and hard to resist. One classic example is Iris' Bishoujo from Princess Waltz. I had googled about this princess to realized that the character is from an eroge action game on PC. Iris aka 'Princess of the Sword' from the kingdom of Soldia and this heroine holds a beautifully crafted long sword readily to cut down her opponent portrait by this figure. little is known about this mysterious participant in the Waltz beyond her name.

This prepainted 1/7 (20cm) scale PVC figure is manufactured by Enterbrain. I wonder if it is the same Enterbrain that produced the game 'Berwick Saga'. Anyway, the figure was released some years back in 2007 however the extravagant Cerberus Project TM sculpt still remained relevant today. The way the skirt split in-front with that legs apart stance enhanced the sex appeal. The dolly facial sculpt, blond hair and white dress would lead many to mistakenly take Iris as 'Saber Lily'. For those who wanted this lovable blonde in skimpier lingerie can detach her torso and after which reconnect it back after removing the skirt.

Gundam RX-78-2 Head Speaker

I had previously blogged about the Zaku II head speaker and it's Gundam time to go groovy with stereo speaker powered by two AA-sized batteries. More sophisticated mechanics were introduced to Gundam RX-78-2 head as the sides unfold to reveal the the speakers. On the other hand, the cable runs from the back of the head that connects to any earphone inlets, could not be hidden or concealed. IMHO, this item carries more as novelty rather than a gadget.

In actual fact, the speaker can't really amplify much sound and starts cranking when you try too hard. On the other hand, it sets in perfect in my Gundam theme decorated room. Looks even more awesome when I put Amuro Ray's trading figure (not included), the protagonist of Kidou Senshi Gundam. Anyway, I bought this from Japan at the flea market at Akihabara. It was manned to be a prized item for UFO catcher manufactured by Banpresto back then when Bluetooth was still at infant stage.

Dragon Ball Z : HSCF Bardock バーダック Figure

HSCF better known as High Spec Colouring Figure, to me is by far one of the most remarkable non-poseable Standart Dragonball Z figure in terms of paint job and sculpt. This line of 12cm PVC figures were entirely painted with defined facial expression faithful to the anime. HSCF Bardock バーダック is one of the earlier releases in 2009 that spearheaded this toyline together with popular badass villains such as 'Broly'. Donned in his usual Saiyan armour suit, this pride father of Goku is ready for any battle to come with both hands tightly gripped and kept to his sides. The figure is well postured and balanced that it doesn't need a base stand. It's probably the reason why Banpresto didn't include stand to this series of DBZ figures.

I seriously love this figure for its skin tone, texture, defined muscles and shading at various parts. One thing which I didn't quite was that the green scouter was painted. I believed it would be more realistic having a tinted transparent green scouter. The blood soaked bandanna was a nice touch with Bardock wearing that depressed yet determined expression. Primitive Saiyan with his tail going around the waist. Very sharp facial of Bardock showing his sharp chin, serious eye with neat eyebrow and lastly the scar on the left cheek.

Hobby Art Workshop Gundam Gallery HAW HAG

From word of mouth that Hobby Art Gallery 'HAG' had expanded and now runs a Gunpla workshop aka Hobby Art Workshop 'HAW' cum online shop. Not to confuse you guys, let me simply put it as Hobby Art Gallery 'HAG' is located @ No. 91 Bencoolen St, Sunshine Plaza #01-44 Singapore and their other branch Hobby Art Workshop 'HAW' is located @ No. 12 Arumugam Road Lion Building B #06-04 Singapore 409958. HAW is still opened daily to walk-in-customer from 12.30pm - 8pm as well as a model kits viewing gallery. I had the chance to speak to the owner, Mr Sam, who humbly explained that the store won't attain today's success if not for the support of Gunpla modelers. I meant local top tier Gunpla modelers like Eric, Kenny, Leon and even Sam.

The display of trophies are self explanatory and the artifacts at the gallery are the best evidences. I'm glad that I find time to visit to HAW and grateful that Sam welcomed me and I'm sure everyone else to appreciate the hobby, take pics and promote the shop as well as the hobby as a whole. Getting to HAW easier than I expected. Simply take the Circle Line MRT to MacPherson Station, proceed to Exit B and you would be able to see Lion Building, across the road. Look for Building B and take the lift to level 6.
