Papo Horse Figure

I'm always on a lookout for horse figures suitable as steed for some of my figurines and my prayer's were answered while shopping @ Tanglin Mall. I came across this toy shop 'The Better Toy Store' and found this suitable figure. Later to my surprise after browsing through the catalogue of Papo figures, which the friendly store assistant had given me, I realised this is a figure under Personnages Historiques (Historicals) tagged 39805 as Cheval de Cesar. It was manned to be Caesar's horse.

A little history of Papo... is a French designer/manufacturer with more than 15 years in experienced, specialised in a wide range of figurines right from mammals, dinosaur, galactic adventure to knight fantasy. To my knowledge, only 'The Better Toy Store' take in these figures and they do have another outlet at Ngee Ann City.

I especially choose this day to post this review because today is the first day of Chinese New Year and this year is the year of the horse. Coincidentally, I'm born in the year of horse Zodiac so it makes today's post extra meaningful.

In my opinion, this horse figurine is quite well sculpt and possessed the soul of a mightiness to its rider. The color is also close to the famous 'Red Hare' mentioned in 'Romance of Three Kingdoms'. Last but not least, an ideal size for my Lu Bu figure from Shin Sangokumusou 2 Trading Figure series. The two figures is now a perfect match in heaven. Heehee...

ps: Wishing all pink of health and enjoy prosperity this CNY

Superbia GN-X - Robot Damashii

When you fused ninja concept and GN-X together, Superbia is what you will get. In fact, GNX-612T/AA Superbia GN-X (aka Superbia GN-X, Superbia Jinx) is a variant of the GN-X series featured in side story Mobile Suit Gundam 00V, piloted by Hiling Care. This shadowy mobile suit is capable of operating underwater, it could effectively carry out missions such as surprise melee attacks. The assault landing unit necessary for underwater operation was purged upon landing.

Not only that's its ninja looking, Superbia GN-X has claw-like-feet that cling on rod and could hang unside down like a bat. In actual fact, I don't think there are that many structures for Superbia GN-X to hang onto given the size such as a MS.

The figure is a Tamashii Web Shop Limited Robot Damashii released in May 2012, which means orders were taken via Bandai web page and only available to Japan domestic market. Unlike common Robot Damashii packaging, the box of Superbia GN-X was sealed up without window. The cover had the image of Superbia GN-X figure photoshopped and superimposed on its sketches.

Figure is in the scale of 1/144 and made from ABS and PVC. Accessories included removable optional hands and feet. Excellent articulation for multiple poses. The armament on the forearm can be detached with moveable blade that rotates from rear to front and short beam saber can be attached. Not much of addition paint works on the figure however I do like the insignia marking on the left shoulder a lot.

Initial D - Pull Back Action Trueno AE86

A little souvenir for Desmond which I had bought in Japan as I was strolling along the streets of Akihabara. It is a pre-loved toy sold loose, so I won't tell how the packaging look like. In fact, it's my first time, seeing such an 'Initial D' toy car with pull-back action. It's bigger that regular Hot Wheels car and measured approximately 11cm in length.

My apologies for the limited information on the toy. Perhaps, you guys can fill me in @ comments column. The toy was made mainly of plastic however the paint works ain't too sloppy I guess. I kind of like the name of the tofu shop printed on the right side of Trueno AE86 and wordings on the rear like Toyota, the pride of Japanese car manufacturer.

I am not very much into cars but started watching this anime for the reason that an outclass Trueno AE86 could beat other high performance cars with those skillful drifts and also for those groovy Euro Beat OST. Unfortunately, my interests could not sustain after 2nd stage.

Apart for the anime, I had also watch the live-action movie which Jay Chou acted as Takumi Fujiwara. The movie kind of tell the story from the beginning till where I stopped watching in the anime.  To think that the anime has approached its 20th anniversary is truly remarkable.

Gundam Front Tokyo Part 2

As soon as you stepped out of the exhibition area, get ready your wallet for some souvenirs either for yourself or your friends. It's here, I bought my Unicorn Gundam iPhone 5/ 5S cover. Good to sleeve out those items you could get else where and concentrate of those exclusive only available to Gundam Front Tokyo. For example the HG 1/144 Gundam Ver. GFT and Mega Size Model 1/48 Gundam Ver. GFT with the same "magnetic coating" as the 1/1 Gundam itself. The souvenir area also have some soon-to-be-released items on display. Unfortunately, the 1/8 scale Amuro Ray figurine wasn't released yet at the time of the my and now the price had got pretty steep to have it shipped over.

it's inevitable for Gundam fans have Gundam apparels, or at a few... Beside COSPA or occasionally Uniqlo release, STRICT-G is one you might consider. STRICT-G @ Gundam Front Tokyo is my first experience shopping in a boutique selling only Gundam apparels and they practically selling Gundam apparels right from head to toes. The flagship store for a men's fashion brand merging 'Mobile Suit Gundam' looks with "Cool Japan" style. It will carry both original goods and collaborations with major Japanese brands.
