Central Mall Singapore for Otakus

I used to think that Central Mall is a boring place but my opinion had since changed after the last visit. I meant you should pay a visit to this serene mall especially if you are an otaku. Beside seeing the real Japanese shopping around, there are shops selling Japanese and anime/manga stuffs. If you are looking for a quiet spot to ease the mind, try the 'Book Mart'. They have books, magazines, manga, preowned Playstation games and DVD for sale and rental. You can also sit down, order a drink and spent time browsing through the above articles I had mentioned. If you are hungry, there are numerous restaurants within the mall that you will be spoiled for choice. My personal dining choice at Central Mall would certainly be Marutama Ramen!

Fire Emblem Exceed A Generation: Tailto / Tiltyu Figure

Back to reviewing another of Fire Emblem trading figure and this round is Tailto, or some American fans might also know her as Tiltyu. Whatever the names are it's the same character. Tailto is rather ill-fated despite the cheerful appearance you see in this figure. She is a mage specialized in thunder magic. However her powers are inferior to her elder brother and therefore she is least regarded in the family and suffered constant abused from her sister-in-law until the point, she went into despair and finally perished. Sigh...

I really like how the way, Tailto’s figure was made as she looks as though she is leaping with the cape floating and defying gravity. The cape can be removed so you can see her bare shoulders. Sexy isn't it? Very adorable expression, sharp chin and sky blue hair. She is looking at the direction her left index finger is point and holding a spell book on the other hand.

The Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu Character Figures aka Fire Emblem Exceed a Generation is a figurine collection that have the characters from Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu in Generation 1 in the first volume set, featured as a Trading Figure (Japanese blind-box figure). This figure stands 4.75" (11.5 cm) in height, with a 3" in diameter base. Packaged in a color box, with Japanese text. Requires assembly. It includes a textured, circular base, with an English label of the game "Fire Emblem" on the front. So far there has been a second volume. There are a total of 7 characters in this volume and one of which (Ira) is a secret character. That’s the one I missed out but I’m fine with it.

Chogokin MSZ-010 ZZ Gundam

Introducing my chogokin MSZ-010 Gundam Double Zeta. ZZ Gundam is a series of U.C. timeline that continues from Z Gundam. After the AEUG had lost their valuable Gundam pilot Kamille Bidan and in their struggle for existence, they found Judau Ashta as another potential pilot for ZZ Gundam. Unlike the Z Gundam, ZZ Gundam is much more resilience and can discharge more firepower. The core fighter (mini plane) from the torso can join up with other parts of the body to form a big aerial assault craft.

The thing with Chogokin toy is that their value appreciate with time. Collectors tends to see and feel the beauty of the metal component embedded to plastic. I must confess that I'm not a faithful follower of ZZ Gundam series and had stopped watching half way. Perhaps it's due to the old anime drawing from the 80s, the weak plot, the unappealing main character/pilot (Judau Ashta) draggy storyline or simply because the mecha design isn't to my liking.

As least I think the mecha design of ZZ Gundam is interesting and sophisticated. It gave me the impression of flying fortress that's transforms me to bulk standing armor which still takes the endorsement of Gundam. The toy provided a lot of fun from the Neo core fighter...Core Top...Core Base... to G Fortress before transforming it to the heavily armored ZZ Gundam.

Not only is ZZ Gundam heavily armored, its has the firepower so incredibly strong that's out of the league to many MS. The double beam cannons will kills its enemy in the line of sight and an ultra thick beam saber that easily cuts the enemy into halves.

Battleship 2012 Movie

You might not believe that I was once a cop when I couldn't even believed myself that I had served the national with pride for 11 long years. After having left the Police Force for more than a year, I still have to reply my call of duty as a reservist. Which mean I still need to keep myself physically fit and maintain my basic enforcement skills like self-defense & shooting. Today, I had reported for my Taurus Revolver .38 test shoot and managed to secure my 'Marksman' level. Feels great as my cash incentives are two hundred bucks.

On my way home, I treated myself to this manly action sci-fi movie 'Battleship'. It was a sudden decision to watch the movie when the trailer makes it so inviting. I just bumped in into a nearby cinema and was lucky enough to get the ticket just 5 minutes before the show starts. Well, I had to watch the movie with me, myself and Dennis aka Katsuden.

This movie reminded me of 'Battle Los Angeles' but in this instant, the fighting field now switched to the sea instead of land. 'Battleship' takes a less serious tone compared to 'Battle L.A', so much so that some of the scenes are kind of cheesy. Based on Hasbro game 'Battleship', this adaption promised to deliver action pack scenes, hot babe like Brooklyn Decker (Sorry Rihanna, you are not on my list) and impressive CGI, closed to 'Transformers'. I meant closed but no as smooth as TF live action movie.

A word of advise: Just enjoy the flow and not think too realistically cos I personally feel that the heroes managed to recovery from those bad situations too quickly as if shipwreck and casualties management were at breeze.

Misa Hayase Lisa Hayes Swim Suit Figure

We always see Lisa Hayes in her military uniform but how often do we see the feminine side of this so-called obasan. Arii had brought out the lady in Lisa though this rare swim suit version. It also one of those figures released to commemorate the 15th Anniversary Macross series "The Super Dimension Fortress-1". It's a huge 1/6 scale (Measuring approximately 16.5" tall) Hi Quality P.V.C fixed-posed figure.

The packaging is presented in blister card and the whole thing seems huge. The figure comes with a black plastic base, metal rod that attached the cushion seat to the base. There's also a complimentary beach ball, almost the size of a ping pong ball and a picture frame that's not Misa....Hmmm... I wonder why...

The actual colour scheme to the swimsuit differed from the picture illustration on the card backing so I presumed this baby blue swimsuit is a variant piece. Misa was supposedly sitting on a beach chair but the actual toy varies. The face sculpt isn't very accurate as it didn't portray those deep sad expression of the character. There are also obvious seam lines on the hair if you noticed from the pics. But I don't really mind such flaws taking into consideration the era of its production.

I personally find it awkward to see Misa wearing elbow and wrist bangles. But the greatest mismatch is still the high-heels. This is perhaps a fashion statement during the early eighties.
