Jason's Zoids Collection

There's a continuation of Jason's collection and I shall focus on his Zoids before progressing to his main collection of Transformers. Back in the days where there's no game console, Zoids has been an amazing toyline of wind up and batteries operated machines that moves just alike the dinosaurs, insect & animals. Just like Gunpla, the assembling process will cultivate engineering aspect to how the toy works as well as patience among children. Zoids come in all shapes and sizes from smaller insect type to giant dinosaur class depending on individual liking and affordability. One thing about collecting Zoids is that the large scale Zoids really are huge hence they require lotz of space and the problem gets bigger if you intention to also keep the box.

MSIA Gundam RX-178 MK-II AEUG version

There’s another classic Gundam from Zeta Gundam series, which I have in Mobile Suit In Action toyline. Produced by Bandai in 2002 is an action figure, which stands approximately 4.5”. Gundam RX-178 MK-II was supposed to be a prototype Gundam assigned to Titans taskforce. When ‘Anti-Earth Union Group’ AEUG captured it, it was given a more angelic colour scheme. In the anime, Gundam MKII had proven worthy and remained useful throughout the anime as well as winning the interests of fans with accessories like flying armour (available in Advance MSIA) and G-Defender (combined to form Super Gundam that’s available in Gundam Fix Figuration GFF019).

Jason's Invitational

I have always mentioned about Jason and blogged about his Transformers toys but has never show you guys how stunning his collection is. Here's the chance and it's certainty going to be introduced by a few segments due to the amount of toys I need to cover. I must say even in segments, the depth of my coverage would only be considered much of a touch and go.

I guess it's appropriate to first start off with how I know Jason and when he started collecting toys. I first know Jason during my first formal full time job, that was also the time I plunged into serious toy collection.

Coincidentally, there was this occasion, I bought a reissued Power Master God Girai (in short Optimus Prime) and brought it to workplace. I happened to show it to Jason and his interest evetually lead him to what you see in his house today. I'm so guilty to have caused him to spend so much.

This toy collection journey we had is almost a decade ago since the infant stage of toy collection in Singapore. We have supported one another till now and surprising the passion still remain strong. Oh, I must not forget to also mention Mr K who is also has been our partners in crime at this while. K is now busy in a relationship sailing through the honeymoon stage. Won't disturb him till he saves up enough for marriage. Lol....

Illustration Book on Advance of Z

Fans of Gundam is everywhere and I had recently found out that a superior at my new workplace likes Gundam. It was by chance I bumped into him outside Kinokuniya with JapanHobby magazine in his hands. Comrades! Great interaction between the both of us on topics revolving Gundam and following that, we had exchange magazines. Here are some of the extracts from those magazines on 'Advance of Titans', which Alfred had borrowed me.

Very little do I know of 'Advance of Z' as it seems like a manga side-story during UC timeline, that is right after 'Stardust Memory' 0083. The storyboard kind of circled around a group of Titans test pilots. Titans have earned its notorious reputation as a rogue taskforce for double crossing, disrespectful and murderous schemes, however they do have good taste researching on these stealth-like prototypes mecha.

Pod/Regult Matchbox

The old Rapid Culture @ Excelsior Hotel used to be my favourite hangout and I have acquired a lot of valuable Macross toy knowledge from both Calvin and Yanjie. Calvin is such a sincere person whom I regard him more as a friend than a toy seller. He's now a purchaser with Falcon's Hangar.

Talking about Excelsior hotel, there used to a few other toy shops that sprang out after Rapid Culture. The place used to be very ideal for setting up toy shop due to its close proximity to the former Clarke Quay toy flea market.

I got this loose Pod/ Regult from a Malay Abang at Excelsior hotel as well. This Zentradi mecha is known as 'Pod' in Robotech whereas 'Regult' in Macross. It's surprising how this egg shaped capsule with sleek legs is able to accommodate a giant alien. Anyway this Tactical Battle Pod was manufactured by 'Matchbox' under the licensed of 'Harmony Gold'. Can also buy a 'Matchbox' Zentradi action figure to put in the capsule.
