Macross Chronicle 28

Macross Chronicle 28 is one issue that's quite power pack. The main feature is the always popular 'VF-1S Strike Valkyries' and their pilots. There were two very fine Macross artworks and some narration Zentradi mecha. The most interesting section to me, would be the review on the ultimate vintage 1/55 Takatoku GBP VF-1S and others. There's also something for those who like Macross trading figures.

Yamato 1/60 Hikaru VF-1J Super Valkyrie Version 1.0

I was trying to sell away my Yamato version 1, 1/60 VF1J Hikaru with fast pack on Ebay recently. An interested buyer had asked some questions on the toy and its comparison with Bandai 1/55 . My 1/60 VF-1J is now loose since the time I took is out of the box due to yellowing of the plastic insert.

I'm using a Bandai reissue 1/55 for comparison and its fast pack was taken from reissue VF-1S Super Valkyrie. Wonder why Bandai didn't release one like this.

6" Haow aka Kowloon Gundam ( Hong Kong ) Action Figure

I am trying to take the pics of some of my toys from previous postings for better viewing pleasure. I guess the Japanese version of calling this mobile suit in G Gundam is 'Kowloon Gundam' and the U.S version is 'Haow Gundam'. The G fighter of this mobile suit is the formidable 'Undefeated of the East' Master Asia. The appearance of Haow Gundam (ancient Chinese general armour suit) is one of a kind and definitely unique. This toy stands about 10" and it is only released in U.S market.

Transformers Animated Optimus Prime

Even though the toy is for 5 years and above, the toy is robust enough for rough play. Great quality! Pressed onto the autobot logo on the chest and it goes "My name is Optimus Prime". It has got very simple transformation too!

Animated Optimus Prime is quite valued for money! Not only it could transform, it has movable mouth and light-up eyes when it speaks. When you pushed the toy in vehicle mode, it makes engine sound. When you press the button above the windscreen, the siren and blinkers will be activated.

It's a big toy standing above 12 inches in robot mode. There ain't much articulation on the arms and upper body, but the multiple joints on the legs does allow the robot to be posed in many ways.

Because this toy is made for young children, there ain't many small accessories or weapon to prevent choking hazard. The only weapon that comes with the toy is this huge ultra axe with pop-out blades.

Animated Optimus Prime has sharper features and is more sleek compared to its G1. If you notice, Animated Optimus Prime has really long and sharp chin.

In my opinion, the toy is less appealing in vehicle mode. In vehicle mode, the truck looks very futuristic and the axe can be attached to the vehicle's rear. The lightnings at the front of the vehicle will also light up when you push the vehicle

This poster is done by my wife. Denz can't wait to play with Animated Optimus Prime....

This is my son's first robot (Optimus Prime) and the present is from me! Hee! Hee! I remember my dad also bought me, my first Optimus Prime and the thought of getting robot as a birthday present for Denzel came about when Denz begins recognizing robots.

It all happened when repeatedly shown my Macross toys and telling Denz that's robot, he's now able to point to my toys and says 'Beebot'. Denzel still can't pronounce 'robot' but I'm sure he knows what robot is. Maybe, this is the time to cultivate his interest on robot toy. He may one day be the successor to my toy collection! Ha! Ha! ... I got carried away again! Ha! Ha!

Thomas the Train Transformers Combiners

Just by looking at the front packaging without reading the word 'transformable', you probably won't think that these toys are more than meets the eyes!

I know little of 'Thomas and Friends' but I'm pretty sure 'Daisy' is a character from 'Thomas and Friends'

Putting the KO toys with the original Thomas train as comparison

The trains can be chained up together....

... to form a long choo... chooo... train

It's not a perfect transformation as you need to separate the train into parts during transformation. From the left, the front section of train is the robot's shoulder, mid section is the leg and rear section is the hand

The red train make up the main body.

It is basely quite easy to combine the toys to robot even without referring to the instruction, printed on the back of the card

I took a pic at an angle to mask up the robot head. Now it looks like a cute mecha with Daisy head. Ha! Ha!

I blog on this after Leon had urged me, the time when I left my comments at his blog on Bootleg Thomas Transformers. Personally, I'm not against bootlegs as I have some bootleg Macross toys of my own. Some of which are gifts from friends and some I bought as comparison to the original.

Sometime, bootleg toys can make relatively good replacement parts and addition accessories. Bootleg/KO version/replica/ knock-off or whatever you call them would usually come with different colour variants which can also make additional collection.

However, Bootleg/KO version/replica/ knock-off, rise to some moral issue of unethical copycat of the original. Secondly, most of the time, quality of bootleg toys were so inferior and so poorly made that they were already broken before even taken out from card. I believed a collector will know what's best and in principle, inferior bootleg/KO version/replica can never undermine the original toy!

The 'Thomas the Train' Transformers are gift, from Jason, for my son's birthday. In my opinion, I find it rather unique with some innovation. A very interesting cross-over which I don't think there is any original toy on this.
