Macross is usually referred to as Robotech. The reason is because someone by the name of Carl Macek had combined three Japanese anime Macross, Southern Cross and Mospeada respectively to form Robotech series.
Thanks to Carl Macek, Macross became so popular that till now, there have been so many Macross and Mospeada toy collectors around today. Not everyone would share the same sentiment. I do have a hard-heart Macross friend known to me as Mr K, who thinks that Carl Macek had ruined Macross animation. Well, I bought the code 1 Robotech Macross Saga DVD and sold away the multi-code Hong Kong version Macross boxset cos I think the English dialogue is much easier to understand.
Under the license of Harmony Gold, a wide range of robotech toys were introduced. Personally, I do not like these robotech toys as these toys are kind of bulky and the artwork on the boxes are poorly sketched. The few that I prefer would be the Pod, Regult and defender Destroids.
